changedGameplay - The aim is to strike a balance between combat and exploration. You will find in this level, a variety of gameplay styles mashed together. This is always a balancing act, and we will continie to work on gameplay balance.

changedRevised Character Animations - All characters are animated using bone rigging for much more lifelike movement. Ragdoll physics also lead to some hilarious deaths. The player model has been completely re-animated and designed to have more fluid movement.

Alpha Build 3.0 - Features

Gameplay - The aim is to strike a balance between combat and exploration. You will find in this level, a variety of gameplay styles mashed together. This is always a balancing act, and we will continie to work on gameplay balance.

  • Combat: Accurate shooting and use of objects is essential to your survival

  • Exploration: Search every corner for mineable resources, loot, and secrets. We want to reward searching and this will be developed much further in the next update.

  • Puzzles and Physics: Currently there are a few basic puzzles that will make your journey easier. We want to further develop the use of physics objects to solve problems.

  • Crafting Stations: There are currently 2 types of mineral to use in the crafting stations placed in 3 locations. Currently you can craft a couple of ammo types, but this mechanism will be greatly expanded upon to feature all kinds of items. Some will be exclusive to crafting stations.

  • Barrel Stations: There are several fuel barrel vending machines in the level that may assist you if there are gems to spend.

Revised Character Animations - All characters are animated using bone rigging for much more lifelike movement. Ragdoll physics also lead to some hilarious deaths. The player model has been completely re-animated and designed to have more fluid movement.

Weapons - Every weapon has been remade to be more satisfying and visceral. The Mining Gun is now the Prospector Tool and features the ability to tether and throw certain objects. This is extremely handy in tight situation. (Not all weapons are available yet as they are discovered in later levels soon!)

Level Design - Currently we have one long sprawling level that is the pilot for the rest of the campaign. We will have 7 levels by final release, each with unique, hand crafted caves, structures machines and enemies.

Enemy AI - Instead of pre-scripted enemies that patrol on set paths, we have been developing 'free roaming' enemy AI from scratch that respond to their situation in a variety of ways. This is very much a work in progress and many features are yet to be added. Each enemy has parameters we can adjust and what you will find is a lot of 'randomness' to how they behave, and each playthrough will be different.. There are quirks to this kind of system, but we believe it will make from a far more interesting experience in the long run if we continue in this direction. There will be several tiers of enemy, each with thier own set of behaviours and strengths.

NPC AI - We currently have a single AI human at the beginning named Lisa. She is our prototype AI and as you will see, can pack some heat! In coming levels, we will have 'helper' survivors appear in certain high resistance areas. (Word inside: There is also a helper drone vending machine in development)
