Sheriff William Henry Carter is the indispensable and the only representative of the law in district. A war hero and a pilot, recently he began to lean on booze, which, of course, affected the service.
However, the area was always quiet until the early morning of April 12, 1947, when a call came from the Harris farm.
Loretta Harris claimed that her husband, Walter Harris, had disappeared without a trace.
