Lampbearers,
Today marks a momentous milestone for Lords of the Fallen. After more than two years of development and over 70 updates, we’re beyond proud to release Version 2.5 - the final major update, and a celebration of everything our community of over 6 million lampbearers has helped us build. Your feedback has shaped every step of our journey, and Version 2.5 is our way of saying thank you: a definitive, polished, and more brutal experience than ever before.
Version 2.5 redefines the flow of combat; boss battles are more intense, enemies are faster and smarter, boss weapons have been reforged with new animations, and we’ve also added a brand new way to experience the game, specifically designed for only the most courageous of crusaders: Veteran Mode.
Please watch our Version 2.5 overview trailer here for a summary of the update, or check out the full patch notes below, and be sure to share your thoughts, discoveries, and triumphs with us on Discord and the officialReddit page: r/TheLordsoftheFallen. As always…
In light, we walk.

Reforging the Gameplay Experience
With Version 2.0, combat was adjusted to be faster, tighter and more aggressive. Version 2.5 significantly builds on this foundation by further refining the flow of battle across both Legacy mode (the base experience), and all-new Veteran mode.
Legacy Mode - Deadlier Enemies, Deadlier Bosses
Across both Legacy and Veteran modes, bosses have received updated timings, improved behaviour trees, and rebalanced cooldowns to elevate threat, pacing, and clarity. Pieta for example, is now deadlier than ever, attacking with refined combos, increased variation, and a more threatening grab, while the Congregator of Flesh strikes with minimised downtime, tighter pacing, and reduced staggering. Among other boss enhancements, mini-bosses also hit faster, reposition more intelligently, and leverage improved cooldown logic to keep pressure constant.
As for normal enemies, damage values have been adjusted, cooldowns have been refined, and responsiveness has been raised throughout. Enemies now feel more deliberate in their aggression, grounding them more firmly within the brutal rhythm of Mournstead.
Veteran Mode - The Ultimate Challenge
Beyond these refinements lies Veteran Mode — the ultimate test of skill and endurance. Here, many of Mournstead’s bosses have been further empowered with faster transitions, new attack patterns, and even more aggressive behavior. Bosses will unleash unexpected follow-ups coupled with deadly new attack chains that punish hesitation. Encounters once familiar, now become unpredictable battlegrounds: these ferocious foes strike harder and recover faster, while new twists and behaviors demand players adapt on the fly.
Veteran Mode can be selected when starting a new game from the main menu. Once chosen, it cannot be reverted to Legacy Mode, and returning to the standard experience will require a new save file.
Please note, players must be playing the same difficulty modes - Legacy or Veteran - in order to connect in online co-op.
The Ultimate Reward
For those who prove their worth and conquer Veteran Mode, a final and fitting reward awaits. Behold the Veteran of the Veil warplate: a high-end armor set infused with a unique passive that boosts item drop rates - the perfect mantle for those who’ve proven their mastery.
“Composed of Umbral adherents, the Nohuta’s Veterans of the Veil kept watch over the entrances of their underground sanctuaries, disposing of intruders’ bodies in a bottomless pit as a ritualistic offering to the Putrid Mother.”
Veteran Mode also introduces a new unique set of Achievements and Trophies, but rest assured, it does
