Long Story Short V0.11a0.1 is out and can be accessed through the Beta tab!

Hey everyone,

The new alpha version is now available on Steam. You can try it right away by opting into the public_alpha branch (instructions below).

A quick note:

I’ve already seen a few comments about the update length. I won’t go into this too much here since this is just an announcement post, but I want to be honest with you.

The way I currently develop the game, with a lot of optional paths, clothing variations, and branching choices, takes a lot of time and doesn’t always translate into a longer playable update.

I’m not saying anything will change, but I wanted to give you a heads-up while I take some time to think about the structure going forward.

Translation support:

This update also adds support for custom language translations. If you'd like to translate the game into your own language, it's now possible! There are also two partial translations included — check the changelog below for more details.

How to access the alpha build:

  1. Right-click Long Story Short in your Steam Library

  2. Select Properties

  3. Go to the Betas tab

  4. Choose public_alpha from the dropdown

  5. Close the window — Steam will begin downloading the alpha version automatically

Changelog:

Story:

The story continues from where it left off. All paths are included except for the Ann non-girlfriend path. That path won’t trigger an ending screen. Instead, you’ll be able to skip the scene or watch it as it would have played in the girlfriend path.

Changes and Features:

  • Gallery and Scene Replay Performance improvements, thumbnails for a smoother experience, a new"Unlock All"feature (unlocked after completing the game once and remains active for future updates), and a"Sort by newest"button.

  • Settings Menu Added font size customization.

  • Overlay Toggle Press O to toggle the overlay during gameplay.

  • Help Menu Now includes a full list of shortcuts and key mappings.

  • Insta Feature You can now like all images once you've finished the game at least once. This carries over into future content.

  • Translation Support You can now add your own language via the settings menu.

  • Portuguese (Brazil) Translation added up to v0.10. Partially complete and not yet tested. v0.11 is not included yet.

  • French Translation updated up to v0.11, and partially tested up to v0.10.

  • Image Loading and Replay Data Backend improvements for faster and more stable UI performance.

Experimental:

After finishing v0.11, you'll be given the option to enter the Tech Demo stage. This section offers a sneak peek at content from the next version, including preview scenes or partial content that didn’t make it into the main update yet.
