Hi there!

I am Jon Gomez, Producer & Game Designer at Little Lantern Games, and I am excited to share our first update on our project about puzzles, toy trains, cute characters, and thoughtful challenges 🚂🧩✨

If you’d like the full breakdown, you can watch the complete devlog here:

Quick recap

🛠 A Brief Context

We began development on September 2025 as part of the GameBCN pre-incubation program, where we built our MVP (Minimum Viable Product) in just two months. This included the core gameplay: train movement, rail switching, and wagon delivery.

Since then, we’ve also established:

  • A production roadmap

  • Budget estimates

  • Market analysis

(Available on our landing page)

We’re now transitioning to our Vertical Slice, focusing on depth, polish, and player experience, and aim to share it with all of you in October this year.

⚙️ Progress made

Camera Rework We have significantly improved the camera system to better handle complex environments and provide clearer player feedback. It is now more stable, readable, and adaptable. We have done it with custom tools built on top of Unity’s Cinemachine.

New Characters & Requests System We have introduced adorable characters at delivery stations, along with a scalable system for handling cargo requests. Our first character (a friendly Train Driver) guides players through the experience!

Improved Onboarding Based on playtesting feedback, we redesigned the early game:

  • Clearer tutorials using icons and in-world elements

  • More guided situations to teach core mechanics

  • Larger, more “premium-feeling” levels (3x bigger, with multiple objectives)

🎯 Our Current Focus

We are currently working on:

  • Testing new tutorial systems and UI

  • Finalizing a cinematic tool for in-game storytelling

  • Improving clarity for advanced mechanics like the Coupling Selector

Our next major milestone is building the HUB world: a connected space that links all levels into a cohesive, immersive experience.

📰 Other updates

Steam post image 🔄 Rebranding To end with, we officially changed the name of the game in April! Before it was called Train of Thought, but we felt it was not reflecting the spirit of our project anymore because it had a serious vibe.Entering the GameBCN incubator program was the right moment to choose a name that better reflects its heart, style, and personality. And it is thanks to your feedback that we’ve decided on a name that truly represents us.You can check our community post about the topic on Steam here!Steam post image 🌍 Showcases & Community These weeks we have been showcasing Locomochi at:Talent Arena (tech event in Barcelona)Expotren (railway modeling fair)Mad Games Show (business event in Madrid)The reception has been incredibly positive from both players and industry professionals.
