Linework changes
With SEA Game Fest officially kicking off, we realized it was the perfect time to finally break our silence and give you an update. First off, thank you so much to everyone who has wishlisted the game and followed our progress, your early support means the world to us!!
Before we look forward, we wanted to take a quick look back. As some of you might know, Linework originally started as a prototype for the Gameseed 2025 competition. Taking home 1st place in the Student category back then gave us the massive push we needed to commit to turning our jam project into a Steam release. It has been an incredible journey since those early game jam days, but evolving a short jam build into a rich, detective story meant we couldn't just rely on our original mechanics.
As we’ve been testing and developing, we realized that some of our initial jam mechanics weren’t quite scaling up to the experience we want to deliver. To truly capture the immersive mystery we envisioned, we decided to rethink our core systems from the ground up.
Today, we are excited to announce that a massive overhaul is currently underway and it’s almost done!
What to Expect
Evidence Rework We are completely re-evaluating how documents contain clues and how you used it. Examining evidence will feel much more immersive and satisfying.
Visual & UI Polish We're refining our art and rebuilding the interface to be much cleaner and more intuitive.
Deeper Narrative We want the story and the gameplay to feel completely seamless, ensuring the world reacts more naturally to your investigations.
Brand New Deduction Mechanics We are building entirely a new system that lets you physically connect the dots and piece together the case yourself!
It is a lot of work, but the new foundation is already playing so much better, and we are thrilled with the direction it's heading.
Stay Tuned!
Since this overhaul changes so much of the game, we aren't quite ready to pull the curtain back on a full gameplay trailer just yet. To be the first to see these new systems in action, make sure to follow us over on Twitter and Instagram. We will be posting regular sneak peeks, devlogs, and visual updates there as development continues.
Thank you again for your patience, your wishlists, and for celebrating SEA Game Fest with us. The journey from Gameseed to Steam has been wild, and we can't wait to show you what we've been working on!
