Thanks to everyone who has wishlisted and who is following along. I thought I'd take the opportunity to introduce some of the origins of Life's Too Short and what I am hoping to achieve with bringing the game to Steam.

Playdate origins

Back in 2022, a little yellow console with a crank launched in the form of the Playdate (play.date) and with it, Pixel Ghost launched Life's Too Short, a tiny haunted house adventure game featuring a little ghost trying to do some good.

The game was short, funny, charming and really well received by the community. It has become a significant franchise for the Playdate with 3 other Playdate sequels being launched in the years to come.

Gameboy games in 2024?!

In 2024, I wanted to expand my development abilities by learning to develop for Gameboy using GB Studio. The most obvious method for this was to learn to use the new platform by remaking one of my older games and Life's Too Short made sense!

The platform needs 4 x the colours, 4 x the pixels and I massively underestimated the work it would take seeing as it became a full ground-up remake. In the end though, it looks and plays great and I'm really happy with the outcome.

As well as Life's Too Short, we also launched LTS: A Christmas Spirit on Gameboy and had physical limited runs for both games working with Yastuna Games.

Steam and the future

The plan now is learning Godot by remaking Life's Too Short again (Eventually followed by its 3 sequels). These games mean an awful lot to me and I hope you all enjoy them when they start to launch later this year.

(Btw, I have noticed that we now have a lot of wishlists from Japan so I am now looking to localise to other languages including Japanese!)

All the best and thanks for reading!
