Lifecycles of the Traveler Spider changes
It's been a few weeks since the game was featured in Next-Fest and I have been busy preparing for launch. I have combed over many of the games systems to make sure everything is as balanced and polished as I can get them.
A lot has changed, mainly around the game's difficulty and accessibility. My vision for the game is to make an experience that engages players and makes them want to learn more about the world.
But at the same time, I think it's important that a game has goals and challenges for players.
So my main focus now that all of the games content is in place has been trying to find a level of difficulty/accessibility that is rewarding but not too much of an obstacle.
To that end I have added several ways to make the gameplay across all maps easier to pick up and learn.
This includes player markers to help with the player orientation, NPC markers on maps where they aren't always easy to spot, and a "sight" mechanic to reveal nearby objectives.
I have also made a lot of smaller changes to the game's difficulty such as changes to stamina regeneration, NPC movement speed, etc.
Today I am launching the last major patch to the demo before the games full release.
It includes the sight feature as well as a new introduction sequence when starting a new game.
