Playtest results
Hello, Kasia here! It’s been two months since we released the playtest of Leafy Corner. Thank you so much to everyone who played the game and shared their feedback with us! Here is the summary! <3
Almost 7000 players signed up for the playtest
We’ve received over 1500 answers in our feedback form
As you can see in the chart below, 92,1% of respondents would most likely or definitely play the full version of the game! This is a great result that has surpassed our expectations! 💚
We are aware that the game is not for everyone, and those who rated it low expected a more advanced management game with strategic actions and time pressure. I personally love both types of games (stress-free and hardcore management), but a hardcore management game was not our goal with this one.
What players enjoyed about the game?
Cozy, relaxing vibe - it makes us super happy, as this was exactly our goal. We wanted to create a chill, non-stressful experience, so it’s great to see so many of you enjoyed it.
Different types of plants - yep, the game is all about that. We all love plants!
Decorating the shop - we are really glad you enjoyed it, even though some things were very easy to miss (our fault, we didn’t mention some of the things in the tutorial, for example, how to customize walls and floors). We saw some of your creations and were REALLY impressed by your creativity!
Graphics - that makes me personally extremely happy! I put a lot of time and heart into making every single asset, from 3D models to textures and icons, and it’s great to see it being appreciated. Everything in the game is human-made (no AI), and we are very proud of that! <3
Music - all credits for that go to Samantha van der Sluis. The music she composed fits the vibe of the game perfectly!
UI - it was surprising to see this one mentioned so often. We put a lot of heart into making the UI clear and nice-looking, so I'm glad you noticed and appreciated it!
What players disliked about the game?
Watering - after we received some negative comments about watering, we released a patch with reduced watering needs for plants. That seemed to fix the problem, as after the patch, we started receiving much fewer comments about that. We analyzed your feedback carefully, and a lot of you find the watering mechanic satisfying and relaxing (us, the devs, included!), while some of you don’t really enjoy that aspect of the game. Because of that, we have decided to add an option (disabled by default) to further reduce the watering needs of plants if you are the type of player who prefers not to interact too much with this mechanic.
No day-and-night cycle - At the beginning of the developement we tried the "end of the day" approach, but after testing it just didn't feel right for us. We didn't like the idea of doing stuff at a specific time and wanted to make a game where you do these things as they go along. We think both design approaches are good in their own way, but continuous days feel more fit for this game. I know you are worried about the shopkeeper being really tired from continuous work, but let's imagine the shopkeeper is resting when you are sleeping. 😴 Also, we have removed the clock to reduce the stress from seeing the time flow by so fast! 🕒
Big thanks again to all of you who have played the game and left feedback! It was also filled with some really nice ideas for new features, and while we wish we could implement most of them, it’s not really possible with our small team of two people, so we had to carefully choose which ones we can add to the game. We need to prioritize finishing the game to deliver you the most polished experience in Q3 2026! :)
Development update
Each day we are working hard on the game, so let me share some of the exciting things we’ve worked on recently! A lot of these are things we have added based on your feedback!
By the way, you will get to see some of them in the demo, that we plan to release on April 17th!
Character customization
A LOT of you were asking for this feature, and we are super excited to share that you will now be able to customize your character!
Also, you won't be forced to wear dungarees. Yeah, I know some of you weren't fans, so I added multiple clothing options. 🎨
New plants
I can officially and happily say that the game now has A HUNDRED plants! It includes variegated versions, that we all love so much! I’m still not done and I keep adding new ones, but breaking past this number feels nice! 🍃
(Can you name all of the plants in the picture?)
A new type of requests
We added a new type of requests to make helping customers even more fun and diverse! They can now ask for a recommendation based on a picture they show us. :)
Snapping pots to furniture
This was also mentioned in the feedback form, so Kacper used his mad math skills to make it possible! 🤓 This is optional so by default you can still place objects freely.
MacOS version
Turns out a lot of you are Mac users! We don’t have much experience with this system, but Kacper has been working really hard to make the game work on MacOS!
Sounds
Some of you noticed the playtest version lacked sound design, but don’t worry, they are now in the game! 🎵🎶🎵
Meow?
We received a lot of comments asking about having a shop’s pet, so we added a cat! I won’t tell you where to find it, but I can tell you it will be in the demo. 😺
...and more
We have also worked on many other things including more walls and floor variants, more decorations, bugfixing, optmizations and more!
Thank you for following our development journey! We can't wait to share the DEMO version with you, so stay tuned for April 17th! 💚🌱
In the meantime, you can join our Discord server and share your plants! 🍃
Kasia and Kacper 💚
