This is a huge update for Lands of Fury!

A lot of this update focuses on progression, unlocking new content through exploration, and making the early game easier to understand — while also adding a bunch of new cartridges and combat interactions.

  • Because this update significantly changes progression, cartridge unlocks, NPC progression, and the early-game experience, it is recommended to start with a new profile if possible.

  • This will let you experience the new progression systems as they were intended, including the new camp introductions, cartridge unlock conditions, and unlock progression.

  • Existing profiles should remain playable, so you can continue your current adventure if you prefer.

🃏 Cartridge Overhaul

  • Reworked Cartridge progression.

  • You can no longer simply buy every cartridge from Izzy.

    • Only 18 cartridges can be purchased directly.

    • Others must be unlocked by actually playing the game and completing specific objectives.

  • Cartridges can now be unlocked through things like:

    • Crafting specific amounts of items

    • Defeating certain bosses

    • Exploring the world

    • Completing specific challenges and actions

  • Added the Cartridge Codex, accessible through Pandora.

    • See which cartridges are available.

    • Find out where and how each cartridge can be obtained.

  • Buffed Second Wind, increasing its power from 3 → 5.

🆕 New Cartridges

Adept

  • Battle Standard — While allies are nearby, periodically empowers them, increasing their damage.

  • Bloodletter — Hits have a chance to cause a bleeding wound, dealing instant bleed damage. Chance and damage increase with level.

  • Cryo Dash — Dashing fires a frost bolt that deals Ice damage and slows enemies.

  • Fury Overflow — When Fury is full, you glow with a pink aura. After a short delay, it discharges into a magical blast around you.

  • Riptide — Dashing unleashes a surge of speed and force for several seconds.

  • Shatterpoint — Attacking stunned or slowed enemies shatters their guard, dealing bonus blunt damage.

Elite

  • Bloodrush — Every kill builds a frenzy of attack and movement speed. Keep the kill chain alive to keep stacking it.

  • Momentum — Finishing a combo builds momentum, temporarily increasing all damage types. Stacks up to 3 times, but comes with a drawback.

  • Spellblade Devotion — Sacrifices some of your wards to increase spell power, making your spells stronger while leaving you more vulnerable.

Master

  • Apex Predator — Increases critical strike chance and critical damage.

  • Last Stand — When struck while near death, gain a powerful burst of attack speed and damage for 8 seconds. Long cooldown.

  • Overdrive — Strike while Fury is nearly full to unleash it into a 6-second burst of attack speed and power.

  • Reaper's Mark — Kills detonate corpses, restore a small amount of Energy, and grant a temporary power boost that grows as you chain kills.

🏕️ Camp & Companion Progression

  • Added NPC progression for different stages of the game.

  • Added simple cutscenes for Anton, Lilith, Brin, and Ana when they are unlocked at the camp.

  • The Fox Statue now appears in the camp only after you are knocked out for the first time.

    • This is accompanied by a small cutscene.

    • The goal is to better teach new players that interacting with Didra is the first important step.

  • Replaced Ana's placeholder dialogue lines with proper dialogue.

  • Companion base weapons can now be leveled all the way to Level 20.

    • No more starting the game with companion skill points sitting unused!

  • Leveling progression has been adjusted so that it becomes faster during the later stages of the game.

⚔️ Combat & Item Improvements

  • Added a new Charge Window system for Area of Effect effects, allowing effects to remain active for a defined amount of time before being disabled.

  • Added the ability to propagate On Death events through the inventory, allowing matching skills and passives to react when units die.

  • Items can now apply Explode on Death effects to units.

  • Lilith's spell attack now correctly scales with Spell Power.

  • Modified and updated several cartridge effects and icons.

  • Updated the Critical Chance and Critical Damage icons.

🗑️ Cartridge Changes

Removed:

  • Electric Charge

  • Cryogrenade

💰 Trading & UI

  • Added confirmation modals for trades.

    • Accidentally closing a shop no longer wipes your prepared trades without warning.

    • You'll now be asked to confirm before cancelling out of the trade.

  • Improved the Save icon - nice white outline.

  • Completed and unlocked entries in the Achievements and Cartridge Codex are now displayed in green.

⚖️ Balance

  • Reduced the damage of the Orc Mutant.

Thanks for playing and supporting Lands of Fury during Early Access!

This update is a major step toward making progression more meaningful. Instead of simply buying everything that's available, you'll now have to explore, experiment, fight bosses, craft, and complete challenges to unlock some of the more powerful cartridges.

There's still a lot more to come — and as always, your feedback helps shape where Lands of Fury goes next.

Remember: your feedback matters a lot.
