I wanted to give you all an update on where Labyrinth’s development currently stands, what our plans are for the future of the game, and where we want to take Beyond Illusion Studios moving forward.

Where Development Currently Stands

As some of you in our Discord server already know, we had a serious issue involving another project connected to the studio.

It took a lot of our attention away from Labyrinth and unfortunately slowed development down.

I can’t share much about the situation right now, but it is being handled by the appropriate authorities, so there isn’t much more we can say at the moment.

Because of this setback, and because of where the demo was at, we decided not to rush Labyrinth into the October 2026 Steam Next Fest.

We really wanted to be part of it, but the demo was not at the level of quality I wanted it to be. Releasing it just to meet a deadline would have been the wrong decision.

We are now looking at possibly participating in a Steam Next Fest sometime in 2027 instead.

We are not promising a specific event or release date until we know the demo is ready.

What This Means for Labyrinth

While the delay is disappointing, it also gives us more time to improve the game, add more content, and make the demo a much stronger experience.

We are also working on something new for Labyrinth that I am really excited about.

We are keeping the details private for now, but we believe it will make the overall experience better. We will share more when the time is right.

I would rather take more time and release something we are proud of than rush out something that does not properly represent the game.

Community Playtests

At Beyond Illusion Studios, we have always wanted the community to have a voice in the development of our games.

That is why we are planning to release public playtests for Labyrinth.

Anyone will be able to join when the playtest becomes available. You will be able to give us feedback on the gameplay, atmosphere, performance, accessibility, and anything else you believe could be improved.

We want to hear what you enjoy, what is not working, and what you think could make the experience better.

We do not currently have a confirmed date for the playtest.

Once it becomes available, our current plan is to keep it open through the end of November 2026. That may change depending on how development goes, and we will share more information once everything is ready.

Your feedback will help us find problems, improve the game, and make sure the final demo becomes something the community genuinely enjoys.

The Future of Beyond Illusion Studios

We also want Beyond Illusion Studios to become more active and connected with our community.

We love hearing your thoughts, ideas, and feedback, and we want to create more opportunities to talk with everyone directly.

Moving forward, we want to do more:

  • Development updates and devlogs

  • Q&As and livestreams

  • Public playtests and community events

  • Behind-the-scenes content

  • Giveaways when possible

  • More opportunities for the community to share feedback and ideas

We do not want to be a studio that only appears whenever we have something to promote.

We want to build a real community where people can follow development, talk with us, share their ideas, and understand why we make certain decisions.

We also want to be more open about our progress, including what is going well, what still needs work, and when our plans have to change.

There is still a lot of work ahead of us, but I am excited about where Labyrinth is going and what we are building for the future of Beyond Illusion Studios.

Thank you all for sticking with us and continuing to support the game.

I know the delay is not the news everyone wanted, but I believe it is the right decision for Labyrinth.

I cannot wait to share more and show everyone what we have been working on.
