fixedHey everyone, I just wanted to keep you all in the loop about what's been going on lately. Both Sudokid and I have been dealing with life issues... I won't get into details, but the sad reality - as a two person team with $0 budget - is that we're more easily derailed when life gets in the way. The issues are things that aren't going to be resolved probably until the end of the summer/early fall, so we're going to continue to be silent with the project until then.
changedI just wanted to say that although we've been pretty silent since the Galaxies Showcase, we are still dedicated to the project, even if we can't work on it as much as we'd like at the moment. Sadly, predicting what life throws at us isn't possible, so there's not much we can do to dodge it. This is definitely a long-haul project for us. We've already been working on it for over 2 years now, and there's still likely going to be a lot more years of work ahead. I just wanted to set expectations because I know it can be hard waiting when you're excited about a game, and it's also easy to lose hope and think that a project is dead if it's been in development for years. Just remember, we're not a regular sized team, and I launched the Discord Server on week one of starting the project. :)
addedT hat said, before we disappear for another while, I though since you already technically saw it in the showcase video (only from inside or behind) I thought I’d show you a turn around of the new mech design; in hover mode. My close friend Chris French designed it (he works at a large company that does 3D animated TV shows for kids) with my direction, and I’m really happy with the final result:
changedA side from life issues getting in the way, as I've said many times in our Discord channel to various people; I have severe ADHD which means it's quite easy for me to get distracted. To mitigate this I always try to work on more than one project at once. I realize that might sound crazy, but it's just the way my brain works. I often play around with prototypes for game ideas that I think might be fun, and I usually drop them at some point when I've either fed the urge enough, or when I realize it's either not viable (read: overly ambitious for a solo dev), or not as fun as I thought it would be. Recently though (just 3 days ago) I came up with an idea that I think will be both viable and a lot of fun, so I'm going to be playing around with putting together a framework for that over the next couple months. This doesn't mean I won't be working on L.A.P.D. at all, but it does mean I'm deprioritizing it for at least for the short term.
addedT he idea I've come up with is much smaller in scope - closer to the size of my first game ‘Beast Mode: Night of the Werewolf’ that I built in 6 months. I think this new idea will have a wide appeal and will definitely be achievable in a much shorter period of time than L.A.P.D., so it might be a good way to earn a small amount of money that I could then put into freelancers etc. to help with L.A.P.D.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to keep you all in the loop about what's been going on lately. Both Sudokid and I have been dealing with life issues... I won't get into details, but the sad reality - as a two person team with $0 budget - is that we're more easily derailed when life gets in the way. W e both do really want to be working on the project, but we haven't been able to do as much as we would want in the last few months. Another factor for me personally, is that I burned myself out way too hard trying to get something put together for the Galaxies showcase. I worked every day without break (sorry, I took 3 days off in 4.5 months) from December to mid April, and I put in multiple rounds of 45+ hour non-stop bursts near the end. That's taken a much bigger toll than I thought it would as I'm not exactly a spring chicken anymore (I’m 45 now). It was definitely worth it - we got 2,500+ Wishlists in the first 10 days, and I was contacted with an offer for a free full-page ad in an upcoming issue of **** magazine (I'll tell you when it happens) which was ridiculously exciting for me!

I just wanted to say that although we've been pretty silent since the Galaxies Showcase, we are still dedicated to the project, even if we can't work on it as much as we'd like at the moment. W hen it’s in Mech mode, it looks really unique, but you’ll have to wait to see that in a future update.

A side from life issues getting in the way, as I've said many times in our Discord channel to various people; I have severe ADHD which means it's quite easy for me to get distracted. To mitigate this I always try to work on more than one project at once. I realize that might sound crazy, but it's just the way my brain works. TLDR:

Life is hard, and both myself and my programmer are struggling with it at the moment, but we're still dedicated to L.A.P.D. 2195. Just don't expect it to be in any sort of a playable state in the next year or two. We're two people with only our passion to drive us right now, so it’s going to take time :)

Thanks for reading, and for your understanding everyone. I seriously love this community!
