Depth 8000

You are alone, in a steel capsule in the middle of the abyss, down in the Kola Borehole at a depth of 8,000 meters. The capsule hangs on a cable like a thin thread, creaking and swaying, instruments humming, mechanisms and drives clicking. Outside, almost nothing can be seen, but something is definitely out there—you know it, because you can hear it. What could possibly go wrong?
