Knockout 2: Wrath of the Karen changes
Rejoice! Giga-Chad has been reworked so that new players can get a better handle of the game and its systems. But that's not all! This update includes tons of onboarding changes to progression, tutorials, and major updates to the Portuguese, Spanish, and French localizations.
MAJOR CHANGES:
Giga-Chad's Rookie fight difficulty has been reworked to be less punishing if you really, truly, DECISIVELY don't want to heed our counter punching tutorials. Details below.
Controller gyroscopes no longer interrupt mouse and keyboard inputs.
Mobile versions of the game will treat all achievement checks as true, unless and until we add achievements on mobile. This affects the visibility of some items in the store.
Added optional tutorial videos, offered upon losing to some characters.
Fixed a softlock when switching control types while reading Evidence.
Shop, Wardrobe, and Missions are now accessible from Level Select.
You should now return to the previous scene when completing missions.
The Stamina refill calculation upon landing a Special has been changed. Instead of a flat (100 * Stamina Gain stat), it now uses the player's max Stamina as a base.
The game will now start up significantly faster in low connectivity conditions.
Included the latest translation work by our volunteer translators. The most changes this time around come from Discord newcomer It's me,Fanz!, who translated massive sections of the Spanish script. Likewise, Tydes continues making sweeping changes to Portuguese and is closing in on 100% completion. elvee also continues improving the French script in copious amounts. Thank you to all of our volunteers! As always, if you did work and we didn't see it specifically, let us know so we may credit you properly.
OPPONENT CHANGES
- Scam BrawlerP1 Achievement 5 changed to "Knock down Scam Brawler with a single punch."
- KarenP1 Achievement 5 changed to "Defeat Karen without taking damage."
Giga-Chad P0: Countering now deals more damage, and reduces his Bravado more.
Giga-Chad P0: Punishing him during his basic attack celebrations rewards the player with a daze period.
- Giga-Chad P0Increased duration of some dazed timers.
Giga-Chad: Bravado bubbles now have sound effects.
Giga-Chad: The directional counter attack tutorial can no longer appear while the player is dodging or punching.
- Giga-ChadPotentially fixed an issue where he could get stuck idling when he should be down for the count. Please let us know if you see this; it's difficult to reproduce.
Giga-Chad: Bravado bubbles should no longer replay their appear animations if they are already visible.
- BridezillaFixed some missing art symbols. (Thanks, rex!)
- BridezillaFixed the "Enrage Bridezilla in a single punch" challenge so that it’s possible to earn it.
- HaroldsFixed a dialog issue with the Tentacle Eruption special attack.
- HaroldsFixed: The Book Apportation special is now counterable when that herald is backgrounded. There was a spelling error in the check for it before.
- HaroldsFixed: In Time-Trials all the tentacles did was scream at you. They did not attack you at all. (Thanks, Tydes!)
- Final BossFixed Special recharge upon dodging certain attacks.
- Final BossFixed an issue where the Desperation special attack could be dodged with frame-perfect timing, leading to a softlock. (Thanks, Babyj!)
ALL THE REST
Fixed the math of how Stamina and Special are replenished. Before, they were being multiplied by the opponent's damage output and the player's damage take factors.
Improved memory management. Could help weaker devices.
Added haptics to some dialogs that didn't have them.
Items in the Shop should no longer use Karen's photo (unless it makes sense to).
Fixed the Special Gloves not appearing in the Shop.
Changed the Reset Game ConfirmationDialog to highlight "No" by default instead of "Yes."
Added the version and build date to the TitleScene.
Fixed an issue where the Evidence backgrounds and thumbtacks were visible even if the challenge for that Evidence wasn't completed.
Character Challenges can now have unique descriptions per Prestige level. Affects Scam Brawler, Karen.
Fixed the achievability of "Land a Special after a Dodge Cancel."
Fixed character portraits being hidden in some cases when switching Prestige levels.
Fixed Challenge Stars not always showing up, particularly when selecting away from Time Trials.
Fixed the internal logic of matching animation names. We don't know everything it could have broken, but it is definitely correct now.
Prevented buttons on the Pause screen from being pressed at the same time.
Fixed an issue where unlocking Manager's Nametag would also unlock People's Stopwatch, and vice-versa.
- MobileAdded variations to the upgrade reminder dialog, and placed them in a way that sets user expectations that only the first three fights are free.
The upgrade reminder buttons are no longer actionable when invisible.
Fixed ANRs and crashes related to quitting or closing the game, opening the Pause menu, or during certain null checks.
Fixed the possibility of an infinite loop on the splash screen.
Player Character: Crushed blocks now have a sound effect.
Fixed an issue where the Campaign Victory rewards weren't being given for The Harolds and the Final Boss when defeating them for the first time, nor for repeated victories.
Your player card is now accessible from Level Select using a controller.
Atlased the images in Level Select. Could make for better performance on mobile and low-end devices.
You can now use keys other than Enter for a scene's "submit" action, such as closing dialogs.
Made sure the Missions button is selected when running the Missions tutorial.
Ensured menu tutorials can't be escaped unintentionally through button mashing.
Fixed the Steam achievement “I Can Dance All Day” so that it’s possible to earn it.
(iOS) Fixed a crash that occurred when starting the game without an internet connection.
Ensured the blur effect during story beats no longer shows a single frame of the previous story beat.
Fixed some formatting tags in character dialog.
