Knight's Errand changes
Hello everyone! ๐
This update is a bit delayed because I was preparing a version for itch.io. Now you can play the demo Knight's Errand right in your browser or on your phone. I hope this attracts more players, and the variety of opponents will become even greater. In addition, we have made many changes to the game and fixed a lot of bugs.
Gameplay โ๏ธ
๐ฐ Updated Economy: Now the gold for lost squads and for defeated enemies depends on the course of the battle. This makes early defeats less painful, and late ones more tense, as compensation for losses decreases, and the reward for victory grows.
๐ Reward for Defeats: If the player suffers a series of defeats, the reward for defeated enemies increases slightly for them to avoid a "death spiral". I'm not sure yet how balanced this is, so the mechanic may change in the future.
๐ช Store Scaling: The number of units available for purchase now grows with the number of battles. This allows creating armies from cheap creatures even in late stages, adding variety to tactics and making the store fairer.
๐ Full Cost Refund: When disbanding a squad in the store, its full cost is now returned.
๐ Shared Leaderboard: Play-off now uses a single leaderboard for all platforms โ Steam and Itch.io. Opponent armies are also stored in a common repository.
๐ Access to Rating: Now the game has a full leaderboard, not just the player's personal rank.
๐ค Offline Mode: Even without an internet connection, battles continue, but against a doppelganger army.
Screen Resolution ๐ฅ๏ธ
๐ Scale Change: The game's resolution has been changed from 480x270 to 630x460. On large monitors, the game now looks much better, and it gives me more flexibility to work with the interface. On mobile devices, the game seems a bit small now, but I plan to add mode switching in the future.
Interface โ๏ธ
๐ฎ New Main Menu: The game now has a main menu with buttons for feedback and adding to the wishlist.
โ๏ธ Animated Menus: All main menus are now hung on chains and appear and disappear effectively. I hope fans of old strategies will like this.
๐จ Separate Initiative: The initiative indicator is now displayed separately from the number of units, allowing for a quicker assessment of the battlefield situation.
โก๏ธ Disappearing Indicator: After a squad's turn, its initiative disappears to not take up space on the screen.
๐ก Highlighting Information: Panels with the number of units and initiative now come to the foreground when hovering over a unit, allowing quick assessment of its stats without obscuring the rest of the screen.
โจ Button Highlighting: In the store, when the player has no squads in the army, not only units are highlighted, but also buttons for their purchase. This will help newcomers better understand the interface.
๐ฑ๏ธ Improved Controls: Combinations Shift+LMB, Ctrl+LMB and double-click now deselect the original squad after splitting it. From a UI/UX perspective, this is more logical.
๐ช Slider Limitation: The unit quantity slider in the store now moves only up to the maximum available for purchase, making the process more convenient if gold is insufficient.
Bugs ๐
โ Correct Damage: Potential damage for blocked ranged units is now calculated correctly.
๐๏ธ Disappeared Copies: Dragging a squad in the store no longer leaves a copy with 0 units.
๐ถ Looped Sounds: All background sound effects are now looped and do not stop after the first playback.
