Knight's Errand changes
Pleased to present a demo update that brings significant improvements to the gameplay! The main changes involve the combat interface; additionally, there are refinements to the animation system, fund reimbursement, and AI behavior, along with several important bug fixes.
Combat Interface Changes ⚔️
The combat interface is now significantly more informative and user-friendly:
🗺️ Movement Zone Display:
When hovering over an enemy unit, its movement zone now appears.
🌐 Pressing the ALT key shows the movement zones of all enemies, which helps better assess threats and plan actions.
🎯 Damage Prediction: Now, the potential damage to an enemy can be predicted in advance, allowing for more informed tactical decisions.
💀 Attack Result: After an attack, the amount of damage dealt and units destroyed are displayed above the target.
- ❤️ Top Unit HealthThe current health indicator for the top unit in a stack has been added for a better understanding of the army's current state.
⏳ Initiative Scale Position: To the right of the unit count in a stack, its position on the initiative scale is now displayed, simplifying turn planning.
🖱️ Detailed Unit Characteristics: In combat, a right-click on a unit now shows all its characteristics.
- 💡 Unit Selection HintA hint about selecting a unit has been added when multiple units have the same initiative.
🔄 Counterattack Indication: The display of counterattack availability has been reworked:
🌟 If a unit has a counterattack, the number of units in the stack is displayed in gold.
⚪ If it has already used its counterattack, the number is displayed in white, allowing for instant assessment of the unit's readiness to retaliate.
Other Changes
🎬 Animation System:
The animation system has been completely reworked. While it might not be immediately noticeable, transitions between animations should be smoother.
🔊 This change forms the foundation for future improvements and will allow for more flexible animation customization and synchronization with sounds, which will make the game feel more alive and dynamic in the future.
💰 Fund Reimbursement System:
The full fund reimbursement system, regardless of the number of victories, has been reinstated. This seems to be the fairest approach for players at the moment.
🧹 Consequently, a wipe of the army pool has been performed.
AI Improvements 🤖
AI behavior has been slightly improved:
🏹 Ranged Unit Targeting: Ranged units controlled by AI now consider the threat posed by the player's unit when determining targets for attack.
🛡️ Melee Unit Defense: AI now correctly defends its melee units, making its tactics more coherent.
Bug Fixes 🐞
Several bugs have been fixed:
- 💎 Incorrect Rarity DisplayFixed an issue with the incorrect display of unlocked unit rarity .
- 🔍 Cursor ScaleThe cursor scale bug has been addressed.
