Greetings, budding adventurers!

Since our last update back in May we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes creating all sorts of fabulous new content, and today we’ve got plenty of news to share 🥳

First up, we’re pleased to reveal that Kitaria Fables 2 will launch in Spring 2027. Now that might seem a little way off, but have no fear, you’ll be able to get hands-on with a special beta version sooner than you think! In the next few weeks we’ll be revealing more information about the dates of a closed-beta playtest, and how you can help us shape Alice and Dusty’s adventure by signing up and getting involved.

Now onto the main topic of today’s post - a complete introduction to the Arkadera Peninsula, the vast new region of Kitaria Fables 2. We’ll be looking at how we’ve designed it to feel much grander in scale than Canoidera from the original Kitaria Fables, and how its various areas are broken down to encourage exploration and discovery with a spotlight on the Coastal Lowlands located just north of Whitewall Town.

A wild frontier

Led by Administrator Fawn, newly graduated Pathfinder Alice Skylar, and plucky local guide Dusty Tuftkin, the Royal Academy’s Expedition Team has been tasked with exploring and charting the Arkadera Peninsula, a remote region of Kitaria on the Western continent.

For Kitaria Fables 2 we wanted to build a world that felt huge and full of possibilities, but also completely natural with a logical flow between different areas. Throughout their adventure Alice and Dusty will slowly be pushing North-West. Setting out from the southern port of Whitewall Town, the pair will travel deeper inland, through breezy coastlands, dense forests, boggy riverlands, craggy plateaus, and frozen peaks. The further they go, the wilder and more extreme the environments will become which really emphasises the expedition’s intrepid mission and the heroes’ journey into the unknown.

Wide open spaces

Because of its remoteness, exploring the Arkadera Peninsula will feel a little different from travelling around Canoidera in the original Kitaria Fables. Most of the region’s inhabitants live in Whitewall Town, a bustling community home to plenty of interesting characters and shops to browse, that makes even the mighty Rivero Fortress feel tiny in comparison!

However, outside of the town settlements are few and far between, with small pockets of civilization separated by vast areas of wilderness. This brings us onto the biggest change in the way in which we have approached the design of the world in Kitaria Fables 2. The Arkadera Peninsula is essentially broken down into five major interlocking ‘biomes’, with each biome represented by a large open ‘zone’, and when we say large we mean it! These zones have their own distinct geography, enemies to fight, materials to gather, and hidden secrets to uncover.

To help orient players, we’ve added recognisable landmarks which create ‘regions’ within these zones, and have made major changes to the camera system to accommodate a more traditional, moveable 3rd person camera as opposed to the locked isometric view from the first game. This move towards a more ‘open-world’ gives the Arkadera Peninsula a really epic feel, while also reducing the number of loading screens that you’ll be encountering while exploring.

Coastal Lowlands spotlight

To give you an example of these changes let’s take a closer look at the Coastal Lowlands, the very first zone that you’ll encounter. Located just north of Whitewall Town with the vast expanse of the Endless Ocean to the east, the Coastal Lowlands are relatively calm and peaceful, perfect for taking your first tentative steps inland! Key regions within the zone include:

Whitewall Farms: Outside Whitewall Town’s main gates are a collection of farms growing various crops in nearby fields. Here you’ll be able to collect freshly grown vegetables and seeds to cultivate back at Aunt Kiki’s farmstead. Be warned, the tilling of the fertile soil has resulted in increased burrowing Molae activity!

Castle Grounds: Perched atop the sheer cliffs to the east, this once proud citadel has long since fallen into disrepair. Gooeys love this spot and have taken up residence in great numbers.

East Beach: Palm trees sway in the cool sea air while crystal clear water laps against golden sands. There’s sure to be buried treasure nearby! Armoured Crabi can be seen roaming the shore in search of washed up morsels.

Wetlands: Just beyond the beach lies a patchwork of boggy wetlands and high-stilted dwellings. A colony of brightly coloured Floresta have made this spot their home having been attracted to the abundance of fresh water that seeps out of the ground.

Northern Farms: High on a hilly outlook to the north, a small community of millers have turned their hands to beekeeping. While the honey has proven popular amongst Whitewall's elite, a hive of Bush Bees has recently established itself nearby causing all sorts of chaos with the supply chain!

As you can see, large open zones like the Coastal Lowlands are full of all sorts of things just waiting to be discovered! But wait, there’s more! Scattered amongst the open areas are smaller passageways, one-off locations, and sprawling dungeons that will feel much more similar to the style of exploration in Kitaria Fables. We’ll be taking a closer look at these in a future post!

We hope you’ve enjoyed learning more about the world of Kitaria Fables 2. Make sure to wishlist and follow in order to stay up to date with the latest news and information, including details of the upcoming closed beta playtest 👀

We’ll be back very soon with another post in the coming weeks, until next time,
