changedFollowing our previous introductions to the Core Combat System and Stage Design, we're now turning our attention to character creation in Kingdoms Heroes: Arena.
changed【The White Horse and Silver Spear】In the stories of the Three Kingdoms, Zhao Yun is a dashing and undefeated general. Our team wanted to bring his heroism and dignity to the fighting stage. To capture that legendary presence, we repeatedly refined every detail of his appearance.
changed【Character Design: Defining Equipment and Materials】Starting with the Style Design, we defined the materials and color schemes for each part. We kept the worn, battle-tested look on the leather edges and the texture of the metal armor. The outfit uses the familiar blue as the main tone, paired with a pure white battle robe. We also used front, side, and back 3-view drawings to confirm the layering and structure of the gear.
changed【Combat Pose Concept: Reviewing Character Movement】Once the base design is finalized, we create combat pose concepts in 2D to explore the character's spear-ready stance before moving into 3D production. This allows us to evaluate weapon proportions, spear details, and the character's overall silhouette in motion, including how the cloth elements behave during combat, ensuring the design works well from a fighting game perspective.
changed【High-Poly 3D Model : Detail Settings】Once the 2D designs above are confirmed, the development process moves into the 3D high-poly sculpting phase, turning the designs into high-precision 3D models. This includes sculpting the dragon head on the shoulder armor, the material thickness of the battle armor, and accessories like belt buckles. All complete 3D data will be built during this phase, setting the foundation for the final in-game models.

Dear Players,

Following our previous introductions to the Core Combat System and Stage Design, we're now turning our attention to character creation in Kingdoms Heroes: Arena.

To begin, we'd like to share the development diary for Zhao Yun, the legendary warrior of Changshan.

【The White Horse and Silver Spear】

In the stories of the Three Kingdoms, Zhao Yun is a dashing and undefeated general. Our team wanted to bring his heroism and dignity to the fighting stage. To capture that legendary presence, we repeatedly refined every detail of his appearance.

【Character Design: Defining Equipment and Materials】

Starting with the Style Design, we defined the materials and color schemes for each part. We kept the worn, battle-tested look on the leather edges and the texture of the metal armor. The outfit uses the familiar blue as the main tone, paired with a pure white battle robe. We also used front, side, and back 3-view drawings to confirm the layering and structure of the gear.

【Combat Pose Concept: Reviewing Character Movement】

Once the base design is finalized, we create combat pose concepts in 2D to explore the character's spear-ready stance before moving into 3D production. This allows us to evaluate weapon proportions, spear details, and the character's overall silhouette in motion, including how the cloth elements behave during combat, ensuring the design works well from a fighting game perspective.

【High-Poly 3D Model : Detail Settings】

Once the 2D designs above are confirmed, the development process moves into the 3D high-poly sculpting phase, turning the designs into high-precision 3D models. This includes sculpting the dragon head on the shoulder armor, the material thickness of the battle armor, and accessories like belt buckles. All complete 3D data will be built during this phase, setting the foundation for the final in-game models.

In the future, we will share more on the development of our Generals. We hope that through these development logs, everyone can see the passion and hard work we put into our characters.

Sincerely,

Kingdoms Heroes: Arena Development Team
