Kimono Cats changes
Hey future Matsuri-goers! π±π
Weβre already halfway there! So let's pause for a while to gather strength for the rest of the journey and listen to a new story.π
This time youβll learn a little more about the art of Kimono Cats and some of the wonderful participants of our festival! π»πΈ
As mentioned before, two artists from Thailand are behind the game's artwork β Ferrari Duanghathai and Tanta Vorawatanakul. Both are huge fans of Japanese culture, with a wonderful imagination and incredible skills. π¨
The overall look of Kimono Cats is entirely their own idea β Greg just described the general vibe while the artists came up with the original style, with little or no direction. πͺπ
One of the key concepts that motivated Greg and the developers while designing the Matsuri cat date was the desire to make the game openly supportive of LGBTQ themes π³οΈβπ. Therefore, they included a wide range of feline characters β both gender-neutral and strictly male or female β with no limitations on who could romance whom. β€οΈ
To further emphasize the message, they put a rainbow up over the heads of two kitties every time they kissed. Itβs a gentle but clear celebration of same-sex and gender-diverse relationships.
As you may have guessed, making this one simple decision had consequences. Kimono Cats couldnβt be marketed in 26 countries. But Greg and the team felt it was the right thing to do.
Kitty love for everybody! ππΎπ»
It's time to move on β the festival is getting closer! πΆββοΈπ
