As this is the first playtest it's important to recognise that this is an early build of the game, and is likely to have bugs and progression problems and a lack of clarity. This is why we test and I strongly suggest you to report any problems you encounter or feature suggestions to either the Steam Discussion Forum or the Discord.

  • Building Systems and Mechanics

  • Proceeding Management (A largely accurate progression of criminal cases, with a proof of concept for civil cases in the form of small claims hearings)

  • Staff Management (hiring, traits, skill levels)

  • Actions Affecting Reputation

  • Some Progression Unlocks

  • The game has been tested on very limited hardware and may not perform as expected.

  • Limited optimisation may result in performance issues limiting the size of courthouses to smaller than expected.

  • Bugs are present, I've attempted to fix any game-breaking bugs but they may still be encountered.

  • Depth and realism is still limited.

  • Reputation currently impacts very limited gameplay.

  • The economy may be unbalanced.

  • Auto-save. Please make sure to save often as there is currently no auto-save.

  • The macOS build is not appropriately code signed or notarised (it will be for the Demo and Final Release) as the game is launched by Steam this should not be a problem, but Gatekeeper may block the game from launching on newer versions of macOS.

The current plan is for this version of the playtest to be available to play for the whole month until August 30th, with the build expected to be closed at 00:00 UTC on August 31. Playtest signup is likely to close significantly earlier than this date.

This playtest is to allow for early player feedback that can shape the future development of the game. The goal is to ensure that the final game is accessible to new players whilst providing the mechanics and level of realism and depth that players need to enjoy the game long-term. Thus, feedback as to how you want the game to progress is just as important as concrete feedback on issues in the current build.

Enjoy!
