Vehicle Introduction

209 Series was introduced in 1993 as JR EAST’s next-generation commuter train. It was launched as a mass-production model following the development of the 901 Series prototype. The train underwent a fundamental redesign of its body, bogies, and main circuit system, becoming the cornerstone of JR EAST’s current commuter and suburban trains. The interior features wider seats, partitioning using poles that double as handrails, designated wheelchair spaces, LED station announcement displays above the doors, and chimes to signal door opening and closing—all designed with accessibility in mind.

209-500 Series has operated on the Keihin-Tōhoku and Negishi Lines, the Keiyō Line, local services on the Chūō and Sōbu Lines, and the Musashino Line. It is characterized by a wider body than the conventional 209 Series, designed to increase transport capacity. Primarily due to the replacement of aging rolling stock and the introduction of E233 Series, these trains were deployed across various commuter lines within a short period. They remain in active service on the Keiyō and Musashino Lines; specifically, on the Keiyō Line, only the Keyo 34 set is in operation. This DLC features footage of that Keyo 34 set recorded at the JR EAST Keiyo Rolling Stock Center. With only 170 cars manufactured, they are highly sought after by railway enthusiasts due to their rarity.

This DLC recreates the 209-500 Series, so please enjoy driving this model as it served on various lines.
