changedTRAILER 2 View store pageJOIN US is going to launch on PC this Fall. We'll lock in the exact date this Summer and let everyone know.
changedTRAILER 2 View store pageThis trailer reveals more about the TEACHING SYSTEM . Teachings are how you build the ideology of your cult. Rather than asking players to pick a class like D&D ( Alien Cult, Prepper Cult, etc ), we wanted players to experience the game first and then determine their chosen strategy as they go. Teachings will have some minor gating and progressions ( ie, you need to enact Ritual Fasting before you can enact Nobody Eats ) but in general we wanted to keep it freeform so that people could come up with combinations we would never have thought of. Will someone break the game with an overpowered combo that we overlooked? Highly likely. We were inspired in-part by the early Fallout games where skills and upgrades weren't purely positive, there was often a given and take to be considered ( In JOIN US, you can throw feasts and that will make it easier to recruit followers, but if you stop throwing the feasts now everybody is mad ).
changedTRAILER 2 View store pageWe started to hint at some of the narrative campaign elements in the game. JOIN US does have a story! We wrote a script and everything and then spent 2 weeks with some amazing actors recording 12,430 lines ( 1,448 lines for the campaign itself ). There are roughly 35 campaign missions, 25 side missions, and 3 types of procedural missions. Or you can just turn it all off and sandbox... but then you'll never hear our script that we worked really hard on.
changedTRAILER 2 View store pageThe game is single player or up to 4p co-op. We will launch with peer to peer hosting, but dedicated servers are a high priority.

Hi, it's Joe, creative director on JOIN US.

We made a cult game.

Last September, we made a trailer for our cult game so that people would know it existed. We were pretty proud of our trailer. There was a big octopus at end that people seemed to like.

Then we worked more on the game and it got better.

Steam post image Shooting up a dam with a leopard print minigun. No wider context. We put this early in the blog so people would keep reading. That's it.

Lots of people asked us when the game was going to come out, but we had to be weird and secret because... Marketing? Business? Terror? Long story short, we decided to plant a flag and get this thing out the door.

So we're going to say it's coming in...

FALL

In fairness, Fall is not a date. It's the time of year when the leaves change and pumpkin beverages return. Also there's weird table decor being sold at department stores that smells like cinnamon for whatever reason. Pretty sure nobody ever buys those. I've never seen anyone take one to the register. Not once. Neither have you.

Fall is also when we're going to release JOIN US on PC.

So we made a Trailer 2 to tell people our plan. IGN was nice enough to put it in FAN FEST! Also QUEBEC CELEBRATION OF GAMES was nice enough to feature us last week in their fantastic showcase. You can probably watch our Trailer 2 faster than you could read this blog, so here's a link!

  • The game is single player or up to 4p co-op. We will launch with peer to peer hosting, but dedicated servers are a high priority.

  • And what was up with the pink world at the end? It does actually have meaning, but we don't want to spoil too much just yet. Visually, the look was based on an infrared film stock that the military developed in the 70s for spy planes.

Steam post image Ancient Aliens. Or, modern aliens I guess. Whatever. You can get UFOs to show up.

More on demos and playtests to come, we're in our last big feature push and then we'll get that sorted.

On a serious note, from the entire Wolf Haus Games team, thank you so much for the interest. As a 10 person team making our crazy game, it means everything to have player support (yeah, we're silly most of the time but we also have emotions!)

So, thanks.
