Hello Technicians! πŸ‘‹

Another devlog is here! As we are preparing for the incoming Playtest (for which we invite you to sign up before the chance disappears!) we want to share more information and exciting aspects with you about the game! Previously in our devlogs we talked about houses, economy, but today is time to focus on the core of our game,

Fixing! 🧰

After all we have to make all the equipment work, and fixing it is the core gameplay of It Works: Electronics Repair Simulator. Today we are taking on an example of fixing a phone and how it will work in the game.

As a technician, you will have to track down why the device isn't working. Not everything is put on a table and you will have to figure out the cause of issues by yourself.

The first steps! πŸͺ›

The problem isn’t always obvious at first glance. Often, it means carefully probing the system to find which component has stopped passing power or signal β€” usually with a voltmeter. Sometimes the signal isn’t completely gone, just too weak to function properly.

Removing the issue πŸ”©

Once the faulty component is identified, it has to be replaced. First, the device must be safely powered down and the battery disconnected. Skipping this step may cause some serious damage and make your work much, much harder and costly! Then the broken component is desoldered and discarded.

Delivery πŸ“¦

Next comes ordering an exact replacement β€” choosing the wrong part can lead to incorrect behavior or even further damage.

Diagnostics πŸ“±

After the new component arrives, it’s soldered back into place. With everything reassembled, the device can finally be tested. In the case of a phone, this means using a dedicated service menu to check whether specific functions are working as intended.

Once confirmed, the repaired device is packed securely, shipped back to the client… and that’s when we get paid. πŸ’Έ

Of course this is not all that you will be fixing! It Works: Electronics Repair Simulator will have plenty of different equipment, different issues, tools, parts that you will learn and master while playing the game! πŸ”₯

Remember to sign up for the Playtest, as the chance to play the game may disappear soon!
