Island Dwellers changes
Huge thanks to everyone who tested the game and shared feedback — you’ve helped shape this update in a big way. Today, we’re introducing two major features that enhance exploration, strategy, and the new player experience!
🔹1. Finite Resources
The world just got a lot more dynamic. Every time a new map is generated, each tile now has a limited amount of resources based on its terrain type. This change makes exploration essential — your people will need to stay on the move to find food, materials, and survival opportunities.
🧭 When a unit is selected, nearby tiles now show exactly what resources are available and how much is left.
🔨 The task panel also shows how many resources are left in the tooltip.
🏠 Buildings make specific resources infinite, so setting up a village means your tribe can settle — for a while.
🔹2. New player guide
A lightweight tutorial system now tracks whether you’ve performed key actions and will gently guide you only if you haven’t.
📘 Hit a milestone but missed a mechanic? The guide pops up only when needed, so veterans won’t get nagged, and new players don’t feel lost. Here is an example from the start of the game.
Learn how to cycle between idle units with this early-game prompt.
When selecting an idle unit, the tutorial shows how to move using the right mouse button.
After moving, the guide explains how to assign tasks to your units.
