What if you could fight in a mech, build your base, and command an army at the same time?

That’s the idea behind Iron Expedition.

Core Gameplay

You play as a mech commander with familiar top-down shooter controls:

  • WASD - movement

  • LMB / RMB - firing different weapons

At the same time, the game includes RTS elements:

  • base building

  • resource gathering

  • unit production

  • technology upgrades

Units Control

Units are produced at a factory. After being created, they automatically follow the player.

You can also give commands:

  • Shift + RMB - move to position

  • Shift + LMB - attack enemies along the way

Resources

Currently, the game features three types of resources:

  • Metal - the main resource (used for buildings, units, and weapons)

  • Fuel - required for unit production

  • Energy - generated by power plants

If energy runs low:

  • Production of units stops

  • resource gathering slows down

There are also points of interest on the map: resource deposits and loot containers. These areas are guarded by enemies, so you'll need to clear them first.

Enemy Pressure

Enemies periodically attack your base.

Before each attack:

  • a timer is shown

  • the attack direction is indicated

  • enemies are marked on the minimap

This gives you time to prepare and set up your defenses.

Missions

The gameplay is divided into separate levels. I plan to add a variety of objectives for each level, such as:

  • Destroy the enemy base

  • Tower defense-style survival

  • Intercept enemy convoys

  • Escort allied units

  • and more

If this sounds interesting, consider adding Iron Expedition to your wishlist.

It really helps and motivates me to keep developing the game.
