addedA few of you may have noticed, but some achievements went live on steam a few days ago, and this update brings the game up to date with this so that all new achievements can be earned! There are currently 12 achievements in the game, with more that'll be added later down the line, so go have fun trying to get them all!
addedIn addition to the achievements and the usual bug fixing that comes with all of these updates, I've done a bit of an audio overhaul. The most significant changes are a total audio and visual update to being on low health and dying, adding a feature where any music and ambience sounds are made quieter while dialogue is playing rather than stopping the dialogue from starting, overhaul of the outdoor wind sounds to make them more dynamic and feel more powerful, and the addition of a few new ambiences in places such as caves. In addition to all of these feature changes, I've also gone over and given the overall sound mix a bit of a shake up, hopefully for the better, to make all sounds more audible at all times. This new mix is a fair bit quieter in order to get Into the Wild in line with typical video game loudness standards, so if you have your in-game master volume down I'd recommend pushing it back up a little!
changedThere's also been a slight gameplay change as well. Your carry weight limits are now 5kg lower, both with and without the backpack. This means that you will start to incur movement speed penalties earlier than previously. This change was mostly so that carry weight actually has a purpose in the game, as testing was showing that the vast majority of the time players would not even carry items weighing above the 10kg lower limit of penalties, let alone the 15kg lower limit with the backpack equipped. This aims to address this problem and increase realism at the same time (the idea of someone carrying 10kg of stuff without any kind of bag and having literally no issue carrying this up literal mountains felt kinda funny)
fixedAnd that's about all for this update, it's mostly small filler stuff while I get the time to work on more music. Don't worry though, got a lot of new music that'll be coming soon, as well as a few changes to some pieces that are already in the game, so expect version 0.4.2 to be a little more exciting! Oh, and as a last note, to those of you who've been letting me know about the bug where you sometimes can't consume food items; don't worry, I am aware and I'm working on it, but the problem seems to be quite complicated and I didn't want to delay the new content while I worked on fixing it. I'll get it sorted ASAP and push out a silent hotfix over the next few days, but for now it seems like completely restarting Into the Wild is a temporary fix for when it happens
addedEnjoy all the new stuff and I'm looking forwards to sharing all the new music I'm working on with you!

Unfortunately, some of these achievements will not be unlocked through progress on games that you started before this update released. The achievements for surviving certain amounts of time will not unlock on past games, as in order to get these working properly I had to overhaul the code for logging time survived and also change the format it saves this data in. These changes will most likely also wipe the time survived log for games begun before this update, but I haven't put a lot of testing into that so I don't really know how past saves will react to the changes. The hidden achievement is also not unlockable based on progress in past games, for reasons that I can't share so publicly for the sake of not spoiling the achievement. Thankfully, all other achievements can be unlocked simply by loading a game where you achieved the objectives!
