The news revolves around the Virtual Shizuoka project and how it was used in the game.
I hope this helps other developers get creative with this amazing dataset.
When I finish the game, I plan to make the whole process and automation scripts public so that future developers won’t have to reinvent the wheel. This way, they can focus on achieving better & faster results. I believe this documentation will be welcomed in the sim racing mod community.
I haven't updated the playtest recently because I've been busy with the new tracks. I've kept it open since a long-awaited technology upgrade which will significantly improve data streaming and likely prevent hiccups on lower-end hardware is just around the corner.
This streaming technology, developed by a third party, will allow smooth texture AND MESH streaming which currently causes hiccups when parsing mesh tiles. Additionally, this tech will set the foundation for improved point cloud data streaming. Most importantly, it will enhance the interaction between point data and light/rendering.
