Beam Her To The Sickbay!

Happy new year! I've been keeping my head down working on Hunt of the Reptorians but I wanted to give an update on some of the things I've been working on.

addedHappy new year!I've been keeping my head down working on Hunt of the Reptorians but I wanted to give an update on some of the things I've been working on. I’ve added loads of new things so I’ll only focus on some in this update.
addedCrewCrew now have a real presence on the ship, rather than being just animations as part of the room. Gunners are required to load the guns and the engineers can be moved to repair damaged parts of the ship. Crew can also be wounded so you will need to make sure they are protected (e.g. flipping your ship when they are making hull repairs) and can be sent to the sickbay to heal. You can, of course, damage enemy crew too and I'll be adding some weapon cards that are great for shredding Reptorians! 🔪🐊
addedYour crew are your cardsNow, in battle, your crew's cards will only be in the deck if they are at their posts. For example, if your gunner gets hurt and needs to spend a while in the sickbay (also new), you won't be able to use any of their cards (like fire torpedoes) until they return.
addedMore…I'll go over some more things I've added in future updates. I might also do another video of me having a little play, which went down quite well last time I did it.
addedPlans for this yearThe game is starting to actually feel like a game now. I often find myself testing a new feature or fix and realise that I’d finished testing 10 minutes ago and I'm still playing! This is encouraging and probably time to get more feedback from play testing. I'm planning on creating a few play tests this year to ever-larger groups. I will, of course, keep you updated and let you know when this happens and how to get into a playtest.

Happy new year!

Crew

Crew now have a real presence on the ship, rather than being just animations as part of the room. Your crew are your cards

You may know from a previous update that each crew member contributes some cards to the overall deck. A big part of the game will revolve around improving these cards by upgrading your crew (and keeping them alive!)

Now, in battle, your crew's cards will only be in the deck if they are at their posts. For example, if your gunner gets hurt and needs to spend a while in the sickbay (also new), you won't be able to use any of their cards (like fire torpedoes) until they return.

I'll go over some more things I've added in future updates. I might also do another video of me having a little play, which went down quite well last time I did it.

Plans for this year

The game is starting to actually feel like a game now.

Hope you all have a wonderful start to the year and looking forward to giving you more Reptorian updates soon.

James
