addedSorry it’s been a little while since the last update. I’ve been adding lots of things trying to get something playable for upcoming playtests (keep posted for more details on these!). Things are going well and it’s starting to shape up quite nicely. At least the core gameplay loop.
addedYour crew are your cardsOne big change to the game mechanics is that your crew now have their own cards. But what does that mean? In most other deckbuilders, you have a global deck of cards that you add to, upgrade, and remove from your deck. My general philosophy for Hunt of the Reptorians is to make the cards an abstraction of captaining a ship. I didn’t feel that a global deck fitted well with that abstraction. So, I added crewmembers to the game. Behold!
addedYour crew are your cardsEach crewmember contributes cards to the overall deck. As they gain experience, you can add more cards to them. You will also be able to upgrade or remove their existing cards.
addedYour crew are your cardsAt the moment, crewmembers don’t have a physical presence on the ship. I will be adding that later. However, once they do, you’ll have to make sure you protect and nurture them with training etc. It won’t be a good day when your highly experienced pilot is sucked out into space! 😨
addedNew card designs and new illustrator! You’ll also notice that I’ve updated the card design. I wanted to keep them clean and simple. In particular, I wanted to showcase the lovely illustrations by our new artist who has been wowing me with his gorgeous illustrations ( @screwdycrow if you were asking 😊). The illustrations now take up a lot more space to let them shine.
