Kickstarter Update: 55% Funded — My game dev journey

Hi everyone, it’s Vi! I’m excited to be back to share a quick update on our Kickstarter and give you a peek behind the scenes of why this project means so much to me.

First, a huge thank you! As of today, we’re 55% funded with 274 amazing backers. I’m deeply grateful to each of you for supporting House of Petals. Your belief in this project brings this story closer to life every day. But we’re not there yet — with just over 10 days left, every pledge and share counts.

I also want to share a bit about why I started this project. Some of you may know me from my Vietnamese traditional clothing content on social media. Beyond that, I’ve been a lifelong lover and researcher of Asian history and culture. Growing up, I was always drawn to Eastern settings and stories, and discovering visual novels and otome games showed me the perfect medium to tell the kinds of stories I wanted to see: stories that explore unique tropes, conflicting relationships, and tragedies rarely represented in Western fantasy.

My first game, Who Murdered My Empress?, was my first step into this world. With House of Petals, I want to take it even further — delivering an immersive story, fully realized characters, and engaging gameplay while still making romance the focus of the story.

As a solo developer balancing a very intense day job, I pour every spare hour into this project. It’s challenging, but creating this story for players keeps me going. Every bit of support makes it possible for me to push the game to its full potential.

This Kickstarter isn’t just about funding the game — it’s about creating something extraordinary for our community. My pledge to you: I want to make a game that gives back to players in meaningful ways.
