Home Wars changes
Hoping you'll enjoy it, I'm sharing the news just released about my new co-op multiplayer FPS game "Home Wars: Battlefield" in development (ADD it to your WISHLIST):
Hello, soldiers!
I'm posting less content, not because I'm short of it, but because I'm simply dedicating more time to development than marketing.
Unfortunately, marketing alone, without financial resources and even poor public relations skills, isn't easy :D
This and the next few posts will be dedicated to the Insect units that will be present in the demo, so that you can, little by little, delve into the heart of the project.
Today I'm introducing you to one of the most important Insects, the "Pheropsophus jessoensis"!
This guy is a beetle, but not just a beetle, but a bombardier beetle!
What does that mean?
It means that this creature can do one of the most spectacular things in the animal world: mix a two-component compound, placed in glands in the back of its abdomen, and direct it in a direction of its choosing. This might not sound like much if it weren't for the fact that this compound, besides being a strong irritant, is released at a temperature of around 100°C, along with water vapor.
With this system, the Pheropsophus jessoensis manages to ward off its predators and, if swallowed, be spat out of the mouth of its potential killer.
I initially said it would be one of the most important units in the Insect ranks for a very specific reason.
In the animal world, very few species can throw something to attack or defend themselves, so any invertebrate capable of doing so is a goldmine for me.
Given this lack in nature and the presence of several species of bombardier beetles, I will rely primarily on them for ranged attacks, especially for heavier attacks.
There will also be other insects capable of spitting small amounts of acid, like ants, but for a sort of "biological artillery," I'll use these guys.
What attacks will they have?
In addition to the typical melee attacks, depending on the species, they can throw large balls of acid like a giant water bomb or several smaller ones to create a cluster effect. They might even attack using their abdomens like giant shotguns.
I didn't include the toy soldier next to the model in the photos because I'm not sure of its size yet. The thing is, these beetles aren't very big, but I need them to be big enough for both visual and gameplay reasons. So I think I'll make it about 1.5 times taller than a soldier, maybe 2 times taller, so it's imposing but not huge.
As you may have guessed, realism isn't a focus for this game: FUN WILL BE.
Therefore, if an insect/dinosaur is more fun to play with at a certain size or by doing certain actions, I'll implement it that way.
This doesn't mean you'll see dinosaurs with rocket launchers or ants shooting laser beams from their eyes. Let's just say I'll "help" reality be a little more fun :D
Depending on the species, it could have a more defensive or offensive role; this is still to be determined.
The following questions are very important to me, so please answer them if you can:
What do you think?
What attacks would you have it perform?
What other invertebrates do you know that can attack from a distance?
I hope you enjoyed this boy with a passion for chemistry, as you will enjoy the biology units that follow in the next posts.
THE ONLY GOOD BUG IS A DEAD BUG!
