Launch Complete

Welcome to HexSwarm: Hostile Worlds; you and your friends can now take on the hostile alien planet engine without ever having to open a heavy board game box. Not to say that heavy board game boxes are bad, we love heavy board game boxes.

But we're not everyone.

What's Inside

HexSwarm's 1.0 Launch includes

  • Single-player & Multi-player Missions; play solo with multiple pilots, or play online with your friends

  • Full Box Game Parity; the game has all content from the original board game.

  • 7 Unique Roles; Play one or multiple of several unique mech pilots all with their own strengths

What's to Come

HexSwarm is considered 1.0, but it's not finished. While the game is being released and is fully playable, there are a number of things we'd like to change and improve, so you can be certain there will be a handful of post launch patches.

The vast majority of the changes are going to be UX and UI Improvements and polish-

  • Event Log - So you can track what's happened and see what happened on the past turn without having to remember

  • Better Event Notifications - Coincides with the event log, more detailed information about how the board state changed

  • Camera Pan - Auto panning camera to affected tiles during Hazard cards

  • Faster Flow - Improved turn and phase flow to allow easier stage progression when a turn is finished.

Other aspects require more audio, while the audio within the game is functional, it has room for improvement-

  • Sound Effect Overhaul - There are a handful of placeholder sound effects, a full SFX overhaul is planned

  • ...Mostly the SFX overhaul. We won't make any promises regarding music at this time.

The word Content is overdone, but some content that was planned wasn't ready for launch. Nothing that stops the game from being played, just bonuses-

  • Advanced Threat Mode - Base game too easy? Try this more difficult evolution track where the bugs make more hives and evolve faster

  • Danger Mode - Start with a bonus evolution in play!

  • Survival Mode - No winning, only chasing a high score until the colony is overrun.

  • More Achievements - Exactly what it says on the tin!

There are also some other big plans in mind, there's no specific date promised for these but we'd like to implement them when possible-

  • Radial Menu - The ability to play the entire game just right clicking on items for context sensitive radial menus.

  • New Main Menu - New splash art for the main menu is currently being commissioned and worked on. We're excited to launch the first patch when the art lands. Please accept the placeholder menu for the time being

  • Additional Game Renderers - Time and budget permitting, there are two additional renderers being planned, play HexSwarm with alternate graphics and see the world in a totally different style!

In Conclusion

Thank you very much for witnessing the launch of this game! HexSwarm has always been a passion project and it is unbelievably exciting to see it launch on Steam, where people can play it. We hope to make a good impression and will continue to update the game until it matches the standard we want it to reach.
