Heretical changes
It's been a little while since we released a bigger content update, but this whole time we've been working hard on the next part of the game - Cathedral of Silent Oaths and The Foundry!
Another big thing we've been preoccupied with is starting our collaboration with Ultimate Games SA! We're thrilled to be pushing forward together to make Heretical the best version of itself.
This partnership gives us something we’ve long needed—greater stability and confidence that Heretical will not only continue to grow, but reach full release as we envisioned it. Your support got us this far, and with this added momentum, we’re more determined than ever to see it through.
In other news, we've also decided to remove the free demo as we feel it doesn't represent the game in its brightest light. It has proven to be a major distraction for each bigger update we're working on as it's taking a lot of time to keep up to date while our team has shrunk down significantly.
Back to the main topic at hand - the new update!
The major thing we've been developing is the two new regions - Cathedral of Silent Oaths and The Foundry. These two can be found adjacent to the Deprived Estate, above the high wall of Sanctora. Regions feature 3 new boss fights, multiple new skills and uniques, as well as numerous prophecies to complete.
So, let's start one by one:
New Bosses
There are three major bosses that you will encounter.
These new bosses have diverse mechanics and will test your skill and build even further than the previous ones. While working on the regions, we made sure to make the order in which you do these optional to allow for more planning and build diversity. Without spoiling anything, here are a few images of them:
New Skills
Alongside everything else, we've also focused on enriching the Astromancer's skill category, adding 3 new skills: Celestial Shard, Ethereal Blade, and Power Overwhelming. Here's a glimpse of what they do:
New Uniques
Also, we made sure to add several new Unique items to make the gameplay even more diverse, and here are a few examples of those:
On the note of Uniques, we've also decided to make Uniques more common by making sure that every boss killed drops a guaranteed unique item to help you solidify your build more easily and quickly.
Besides these things, we've also made sure to fix numerous issues and improve gameplay in the existing regions by introducing new shortcuts, reworking some enemies, and much more. More on that in the detailed patch notes once the update is released.
As a final note, we wanted to let you know that you can expect this new patch to drop somewhere during the first week of June.
Moving forward, we'll make sure to make these chronicles at least once a month to keep you posted on the progress and how we're doing.
