Hello Neighbor VR: Search and Rescue changes
We're thrilled to announce the release of our much-anticipated Quality of Life Update, which among a ton of improvements and bug fixes, finally adds support for Valve Index headsets!
Our devs have been hard at work for the past few months pulling this update together and we're incredibly excited to finally get it out and into your hands. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped us shape this update with your feedback, suggestions and support!
Read on to find out what's included in the update:
The game now supports the Valve Index Headset
Implementation of Smooth-turn control option
Implementation of Teleport toggle so it can be electively turned off
Fixes to improve teleport so it is triggered when the stick is released (especially when selecting your facing direction)
- Fixes for physics issues that result in getting ejected from the worldIntroducing the Yeet Manager - A new system created to gracefully return players to the game if they do get ejected
Grab indicator improvements to eliminate jittery reticles
Enhancements to the audio systems so audio reliably plays when loading save games
The wrench can no longer pass through the Garage door
Grab reticles have been standardized across all objects that can be grabbed
Windows no longer play audio when they aren’t being interacted with
Players can no longer use the engineer’s planning table to get launched into the treehouse
Changing your location in room space during a loading sequence for a dream door no longer spawns the player in the house instead of the appropriate dream location
Players can no longer get stuck out of the world when using the slide in Dream Door 4
Player no longer get pushed beneath the Neighbor during jump scares
Teleporting next to the Neighbor after he descends the attic ladder no longer places the scout in the study on the 1st floor
It’s now easier to place the items on the mannequins in the attic
The red key properly respects physics when loading a saved game
The Bagger can no longer fall out of the world by getting stuck on the vent door in the Neighbor’s basement
The Leader is no longer able to teleport behind the boxes and get stuck in her dream door
Aaron no longer sees out of the world at the end of the game
Baseballs no longer fall through the floor of the attic into the security room
Players no longer see the hiding spot icon during a switch transition in the sewers
The main menu no longer appears upside down if the game is paused while the HMD is inverted
The coin attached to the balloon in the backyard should now appear properly after loading a saved game
The Brave can no longer get into the walls when dropping down from the attic to the second floor
The key inside the Grill can no longer be claimed without opening it first
Improved the collision for the crawl space on the second floor so players can no longer get stuck in the wall or launched out of the world
The Brave can no longer use the ceiling fan in the attic to get into the walls of the house
Removed the teleport location in the doll vortex that causes the player to teleport to empty space
The Bagger can no longer fall out of the world from certain areas of the hole leading into the sewers
Recentering the play area while staring at the ground no longer allows players to clip through geometry
The winch bolt in the back yard no longer has a change of getting the player’s hands stuck when grabbing it after it falls
The game no longer crashes when teleporting to specific locations after opening teal lock gate
Mantle UI no longer appears in situations where the player cannot mantle
The Neighbor can no longer get stuck in the bushes near the shed in the backyard
Removed teleport locations on the roof that allowed players to teleport to them and become stuck in place
The blue key no longer teleports directly to the key rack when placed in the central shaft crawlspace
The purple key can no longer be lost in the walls when passing it through
The character rig is no longer visible during the credits sequence
The camera is not longer locked to the Neighbor’s face during the jump scare
The brave can no longer teleport through the breakable boards in the underground tunnel
The fishing rod in the backyard now properly saves it’s position
Slingshot ammo no longer gets stuck in mid air
The coin the Brave can collect in the attic can no longer be knocked out of the world
The Guest can no longer get stuck in the hole in the wall in the kitchen
The Brave can no longer teleport into the mannequin puzzle in the attic
The player can no longer teleport to the roofs of other houses from the Neighbor’s roof
Aaron can no longer get out of the world through the window in the study
The Bagger no longer clips into the hiding spot collision near the metal bridge
Wrench sound effects no longer play when the wrench isn’t being used
Teleporting near the tool shed is not longer unreliable and difficult from a distance
The picture frame in the TV room will no longer respawn over the hole in the wall when loading a save
The mudroom door can no longer be opened before the Neighbor moves the boxes
The Brave can no longer teleport behind the monitors in the security room
The attic crowbar no longer spawns in it’s starting location when loading a save
The purple key will no longer teleport to the key rack when dropped in the hiding spot in the TV room
The Detective can no longer bypass the safe puzzle by teleporting to the other side of the bars
The Neighbor no longer freezes if he sees the player on the roof
The Neighbor no longer freezes if the player dies from falling while being pursued
The monitor in the security room no longer shows the security door being opened before the button is pressed.
The Brave can now trigger auto-mantle appropriately when climbing out of the underground tunnel
Fixed the coin in the oven not being collectible in certain save states
Player is no longer able to teleport behind the security room monitors as the Brave
Standardization of grab indicators on objects that can be manipulated
Removal of grab tags on items that cannot be moved
