Hell Heroes changes
Unity 6.3 update β lighting, church, swimming, and more
Hell Heroes has been rebuilt on Unity 6.3 and URP 17.3. This patch is a big pass on how the world looks, how water plays, and how the game runs on older hardware. Water & swimming
Swimming β you can now swim on the surface and underwater: dedicated swim movement, camera and post-process underwater effects, and land/water state switching (walk β swim β walk again). Crashing into water (e.g. from a fall) can drop you straight into swim mode.
Underwater caustics β moving light patterns on the seabed and underwater surfaces, timed with when you (and the camera) are below the surface and tinted to match the water and underwater colour grade.
Mermaids β aquatic enemies stay in the water instead of beaching or chasing you onto dry land.
World & content
- The Summoning Church β extensively reworkednew layout and detail, decal work, and lighting built for the new mood of the space.
New breakable statues β smashable set dressing (same breakable rules as existing props).
New Lighting on every level β scenes relit and re-baked with Adaptive Probe Volumes (APV) for more believable ambient light on characters and props.
Per-level mood β lighting, colour, and atmosphere tuned area by area.
Characters & rendering
- New skin shader β custom subsurface-style skin shadingsofter light falloff, warmer transmission in thin areas (ears, lips), and tone presets for a more natural look in the new lighting.
Performance & input
Older / worn controllers β input tuning for pads with stick drift (especially DualShock 4 over Bluetooth): higher default deadzone and noise filtering so phantom movement does not spam the game every frame β steadier on aging pads and less related stutter on some PCs.
Loot & interact prompts β world prompts and container loot UI switch to keyboard icons when your gamepad is unplugged (fixes PS4 icons sticking after disconnect on loot piles and container windows).
Coming soon
Bicycle riding β mount, ride, crash, and remount are in this build but not turned on yet. Expect it in a follow-up once final tuning is done.
