Repeated intro
Hello! We figured it's best to keep you all updated, so we'll be posting devlogs here every now and then, to inform you of new updates, ideas, and concepts for Helix! This devlog will include some long term goals of ours for the game, as well as some things you can look forward to in the coming weeks!
What changed
- Gameplay
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So let's start with some up and coming features!
Of course, you can expect some new weapons coming soon; Teslas, Lasers, Mines, and even some experimental melee weapons we're cooking up!
Perhaps you'll even see some new bosses, vehicles, enemies, and level layouts!
Overall, expect a lot more content in the coming weeks!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But, of course, there's a lot more plans for Helix than just that. On the long term side, we've got way, way bigger plans.
First off: We hear you. It's a pain to pick up a gun, having no clue of what it is, or what it's meant to do. That can tank a run, for sure. So, our plan to remedy that is an encyclopedia! It'll catalog all the enemies, guns, bosses, and tools you encounter throughout the game, provide stats, and maybe even hint at some of the story we've got behind the scenes!
Another thing that's certainly on our radar is procedural generation for levels. Completely randomized level layouts could bring a lot to the game! However, this is certainly a far off mechanic. I wouldn't expect to see this in the next few weeks, but maybe a few months down the line.
Now, let's talk customization. We love it, you (probably) love it, and we have plans for customizable vehicles! Perhaps you could swap out the engine, seat, drivetrain, whatever you'd like! And maybe you could even give it a custom paint job, for a more personal touch!
And for anyone looking to experiment more with the game's mechanics, we plan to add a testing range, complete with every gun and enemy in your encyclopedia!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One final feature we plan to add, before we can consider Helix done; Most of our playtesters have asked for it, and we can certainly see why. And that is Multiplayer!
Whether you enjoy playing couch coop with your friends, and battling through a tower together, or going head to head in competitive, I think we can all agree that multiplayer would make any game significantly more fun.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that wraps up this first devlog for Helix! We've got a lot of things planned, and hopefully you'll see some of it soon! See you in the next one!
