changedAnd because he is a super kind guy, he’s remastered it so it sounds better than ever.
changedHow do you make sense of composing the music for Heave Ho and drumming with Dødheimsgard (DHG)?Camille: I've actually got two parallel careers: metal and game audio! My dream is obviously to combine the two, but I haven’t had the chance yet!
changedDo you put Heave Ho vibes into your drumming with DHG? Or does DHG make your game soundtracks more metal?Camille: There are some hardcore Heave Ho fans in DHG, but I can’t really say I put Heave Ho into the sound — it’s more the other way around. Avant-garde metal in general definitely leaves its mark on my game audio work :) DHG and Doedsmaghird for sure, but also bands like Ved Buens Ende, Virus (I played bass for them), Mr. Bungle, Fleurety, Stagnant Waters, Gorguts, Fantômas, and Dreams of the Drowned.
changedWhy did you want to remaster the Heave Ho OST?Camille: I think this remaster helps bring the Heave Ho OST closer to what I really wanted it to sound like back then — but using the skills I’ve picked up since! I’m still super proud of that music. I think it stood out for being genuinely unique and individual, which isn’t always easy in an industry that doesn’t always encourage that.

We probably should have done this years ago, but today we are releasing Camille Giraudeau’s brilliant Heave Ho soundtrack on Steam. His music is such an important part of Heave Ho, and we couldn’t imagine the game without it.

By the way, did you know that Camille has another life as a black metal musician, including drumming with Norwegian extreme metal band Dødheimsgard? We wanted to know more, so we asked him a few questions...

How do you make sense of composing the music for Heave Ho and drumming with Dødheimsgard (DHG)?

Camille: I've actually got two parallel careers: metal and game audio! My dream is obviously to combine the two, but I haven’t had the chance yet!

Do you put Heave Ho vibes into your drumming with DHG? Or does DHG make your game soundtracks more metal?

Camille: There are some hardcore Heave Ho fans in DHG, but I can’t really say I put Heave Ho into the sound — it’s more the other way around. Why did you want to remaster the Heave Ho OST?

Camille: I think this remaster helps bring the Heave Ho OST closer to what I really wanted it to sound like back then — but using the skills I’ve picked up since! I’m still super proud of that music. I think it stood out for being genuinely unique and individual, which isn’t always easy in an industry that doesn’t always encourage that.

If you still need persuading that the Heave Ho soundtrack is amazing and you should buy it now, here are some of the inspiring and thoughtful comments left on tracks from the OST on YouTube:

“I listen to this when I'm high af”

“My friend has a seizure when this song played”

“So stupid, so perfect.”

Enjoy! Fred & Alex Le Cartel, Paris, France
