Heart of Altai continues to evolve. It is a meditative adventure about a blogger named Arina who travels across the Altai Republic in search of a lost city. Against the backdrop of calm yet mysterious landscapes, a mystical story of exploration, observation, and discovery gradually unfolds.

Now we want to share how the project is changing on the way to the next update.

Transition to a new project foundation

For the further development of the game, we decided to move to a more flexible and scalable system — Game Creator 2, an expandable toolkit from the Unity Asset Store.

This required an almost complete rebuild of the project’s internal logic. The work was extensive, but necessary: now we have a stable foundation that allows us to confidently develop the game further and add new mechanics without previous limitations.

UI and interaction updates

Steam post imageWe reworked parts of the interface and the item interaction system. New object inspection features were added, making world exploration more detailed and alive.

World exploration

We expanded systems related to exploration and world behavior.

Drone control and aerial photography were added. Now Arina, as a blogger, can use a drone to explore the environment, search for points of interest, and capture aerial shots. This provides a new perspective on the world and strengthens the sense of exploration.

The cave location was completely redesigned. It is now an ancient catacomb with a sense of danger, narrow passages, and a feeling of depth and the unknown.

We also updated animal behavior. Wildlife now moves along free roaming paths, making the Altai nature feel more alive and natural.

Quest and mechanics overhaul

Some quests and gameplay systems were updated based on player feedback.

We removed unnecessary complexity and made progression more closely tied to travel and exploration, strengthening the meditative experience.

What’s next?

The team is currently polishing the updated systems and continuing development on the new architecture.

Ahead of us is the next early access update, where we will continue expanding the world, enhancing exploration mechanics, and developing the story of the main character.

We will be sharing progress updates every month. Thanks for keeping an eye on the project, and don't forget to wishlist the game!
