changedA lot had happened in the past (almost) one month - I had received a lot of feedbacks on the first version of the demo, and worked on ALL of them; at the same time while my family are moving to a smaller place where all 4 of us had to squeeze in a small bedroom. So we spent a lot of time selling or giving away stuffs, moved some stuffs to a temporary storage, and also cleaning and adjusting the furnitures in our tiny room. All these activities seems really related to Haven Restored, this game that I am building at the moment - lots of cleaning, moving furnitures... except the fact that I can't really use the pressure washer on the internal walls of our room, haha!
addedAnyway, I am glad that we had settled down and I am back to full action on Haven Restored. So here is the updated list of changes to this brand new demo version 1.1. I hope you like these updates! I am eager to hear your feedback, especially from those who had played version 1.0.
changedChanges on Version 1.1:Rubbish tracking logic has been improved, in fact, I have rewritten the whole system from ground up to make it more robust.
addedChanges on Version 1.1:Added Zoning System: Rubbish and cleanable surfaces are now zoned into different areas such as living room, bedroom, etc. This is for easy tracking and also showing on the HUD. On top of this, the overall progress tracking is also showing on HUD.
changedChanges on Version 1.1:Improved Move Object mechanics: Previous control system is lacking some of the movement, hence I have modified the system and now you can move the furniture in all directions (including up/down), and rotation at the same time.
addedChanges on Version 1.1:Added new tool: Carry Bin - Now you can carry up to 5 rubbish at one go, and the rubbish goes to the small carry bin instantly by a simple click. This could save a lot of time traveling back and forth from the main bin. My initial design is based on the fact that I thought players like tedious job, but apparent I was wrong, haha. I personally do feel a bit of satisfaction after completing a tedious and length job, so I have left the option of picking the rubbish one by one (with hand tool) for those who like it; alternately, switch to tool #2 (Carry Bin) to pick 5 rubbish at one go.

Changes on Version 1.1:

  • Rubbish tracking logic has been improved, in fact, I have rewritten the whole system from ground up to make it more robust.

  • Added Zoning System: Rubbish and cleanable surfaces are now zoned into different areas such as living room, bedroom, etc. This is for easy tracking and also showing on the HUD. On top of this, the overall progress tracking is also showing on HUD.

  • Improved Move Object mechanics: Previous control system is lacking some of the movement, hence I have modified the system and now you can move the furniture in all directions (including up/down), and rotation at the same time.

  • Added new tool: Carry Bin - Now you can carry up to 5 rubbish at one go, and the rubbish goes to the small carry bin instantly by a simple click.

  • Added a system to track out of bound rubbish - Some rubbish might be pushed away from the playing zone and become unreachable (try throwing out a rubbish to the street in the Small House map to see what I mean). Now with this tracking system, the rubbish will respawn at its default location if its found out of bound.

  • New UII removed the bulky wooden UI from previous design, and replaced with a simple minimalist design, with clean and clear information on screen. I hope you like it too!
  • Added more QoL settings such as mouse sensitivity adjustment, switch between holding to activate a tool, and toggle to turn on/off a tool.

That's about all of the main things that had been changed in this new update. There are other minors things like bug fixes as well which I won't mention here.

As usual, if you do find out any issue, or if you have an idea how to improve the experience, please do not hesitate to let me know. I listen to all of them.

Going forward I will be focusing on the next layer of the gameplay - small story elements which I believe will elevate the whole experience of Haven Restored. Stay tuned!

Once again, thank you for the support!

Regards, JH Lee
