Guilds of Mountgate — v0.1.7.0

Inventory System, UI Rework & Gameplay Expansion

Another massive update has arrived for Guilds of Mountgate and marks one of the biggest development milestones for the game so far.

Version v0.1.7.0 heavily focuses on improving gameplay flow, backend structure, user experience, and long-term scalability while pushing the game significantly closer towards its first larger public demo phase.

The centerpiece of this update is the brand-new Inventory System. Guilds of Mountgate now features fully integrated inventory management with dedicated inventory slots, draggable UI windows, improved item handling, and much deeper interaction between inventory, banking, gathering, crafting, trading, consumables, camps, bait systems, equipment handling, and multiple other gameplay systems.

A large portion of the backend architecture was also reworked and secured server-side to improve synchronization, validation, stability, and future scalability. Systems such as inventory handling, bank access, item movement, loot tracking, and session behavior now behave much more consistently and reliably than before.

In addition, multiple gameplay systems received major expansions and structural improvements. Crafting and processing workflows were redesigned, older limitations were removed, ammunition crafting was completely rebuilt, and new gathering content such as the Greenford Salt Mine and Salt Rocks has been added to the world.

The entire UI also received a substantial overhaul. Character management, inventory handling, banking overlays, action menus, skill unlock displays, animations, and multiple interface systems were redesigned to become cleaner, more compact, and more comfortable during longer gameplay sessions.

This update establishes a large portion of the technical and gameplay foundation required for the upcoming demo and Early Access phases.

Development Roadmap

Guilds of Mountgate is being developed as a long-term living online RPG focused on progression, economy simulation, immersion, exploration, social systems, and an evolving world shaped by both players and dynamic systems.

As a solo indie developer, development is intentionally structured into flexible phases instead of fixed release dates. This allows systems and features to evolve naturally without sacrificing quality, stability, or the long-term vision of the project.

Please note that all roadmap plans and feature lists are subject to change during development. Priorities and systems may evolve over time as the game grows, but major changes will always be communicated openly and transparently.

Phase 1 — Demo & Founder Access

The current focus is the final preparation phase before the first larger public gameplay tests.

This phase includes:

  • Final UI polish and usability improvements

  • Backend optimization and stability improvements

  • Founder demo access for early supporters

  • First larger public demo phase

  • Steam Next Fest preparation and participation

The current Founder Supporter Edition is planned as a limited early supporter package and will permanently disappear from the store once the game officially enters Early Access.

Phase 2 — Early Access Release

The official Early Access release marks the transition from a foundational gameplay experience into a much larger persistent RPG world.

Planned additions include:

  • Full combat systems

  • Melee and Ranged progression

  • Farming, Agility, and Mysticism skills

  • Enemies and combat-focused progression

  • Expanded gathering, crafting, and exploration systems

  • Additional world events and economy simulation

  • Larger progression paths and activities across the world

The goal of Early Access is to significantly deepen the gameplay experience while continuously expanding the world itself.

Phase 3 — Version 1.0

Guilds, Housing & Social World Systems

Version 1.0 is planned as a major milestone focused on immersion, social interaction, player-driven systems, and world depth.

Planned systems include:

Construction & Housing

  • Construction skill

  • Fully integrated player housing

  • 2D-layer based interiors and customization systems

Interactive Questing

  • Story-driven interactive quests

  • Point-and-click inspired gameplay sections

  • Expanded lore and world interaction

Guild Systems

  • Player-created guilds

  • Guild management and progression

  • Guild offices in towns and cities

  • Guild employees and workers

  • Inland trade caravans

  • Long-distance trade systems connected to ports and economy progression

Social NPC Systems

  • Persistent NPC relationship and reputation systems

  • Friendly, neutral, and hostile NPC states

  • NPC reactions based on player actions and world reputation

  • Selected NPCs dynamically traveling across the world map

  • Expanded social and immersive world interaction

Visual Overhaul

  • Replacement of AI-generated world backgrounds

  • Handcrafted and pre-rendered environment art for major locations and cities

Version 1.0 is intended to represent the complete core vision of Guilds of Mountgate as a living RPG world.

Beyond Version 1.0

Development is planned to continue well beyond Version 1.0 with major world simulation and immersion updates.

Long-term plans currently include:

  • Living city economies with real financial systems

  • Dynamic import/export trade simulation

  • Regional wealth and economic development

  • Advanced weather systems visible on the world map

  • Storms, droughts, fog, seasonal effects, and weather-driven world events

  • Weather-based ambient visuals and atmosphere systems

  • Optional enhanced standalone immersive client

  • Expanded rendering, atmosphere, and environmental immersion

  • Potential future support for advanced pre-rendered or real-time 3D environments

Guilds of Mountgate is steadily evolving into a deeply interconnected RPG world focused on immersion, progression, economy simulation, exploration, and long-term worldbuilding.

A lot more is coming over the next weeks and months — and the game is now approaching its first major public demo milestone.
