Today we’ll be diving into the battle system of Guild Encounters. Players familiar with classic JRPG combat will feel right at home.

Active Turn-Based System

Guild Encounters uses an Active Turn-Based system. Each combatant has a Time Bar that gradually fills during battle. When a combatant’s bar is full, they’re ready to act.

Players can freely switch between any party members whose time bars are full, allowing for strategic flexibility — swap to a healer when an ally is low, or unleash a powerful attack with a damage dealer at the perfect moment.

Command Menu

When a combatant’s turn arrives, their Command Menu appears at the bottom-left of the screen. The menu includes the following options:

  • Attack – Deals physical damage to a single target.

  • Ability – Opens a list of the combatant’s learned abilities.

  • Item – Accesses consumable items from your inventory.

  • Awaken – Becomes available once the Awakening Bar is full, allowing the combatant to enter their Awakened State.

  • Defend – Grants the Guard status, reducing both physical and magical damage until the next action.

  • Switch – Changes the combatant’s position between the front and back rows.

Front Row vs. Back Row

Party members can be positioned in either the Front Row or Back Row of your formation.

  • Front Row: Deals and receives normal physical damage.

  • Back RowDeals and receives reduced physical damage.

The Long Distance enhancement allows combatants to benefit from the back row’s defensive reduction without losing offensive power.

(Note: Enemy positions are visual only — they do not gain bonuses or penalties from row placement.)

Charged Commands

As your party members level up, they’ll learn a variety of new abilities. Some can be executed instantly, while others require charging.

When a Charged Command is selected, a panel appears showing the command name and a charge progress bar. Once the bar is full, the ability activates automatically.

Executing a charged command instantly grants the user their next turn, allowing for aggressive combos and precise timing during difficult fights.

Awakenings

During battle, as your party members take damage, their Awakening Bar fills. When full, the combatant can enter their Awakened State — a powerful transformation that can turn the tide of battle!

While Awakened:

  • All current debuffs and status ailments are cleansed.

  • The combatant gains immunity to new status effects.

  • Stat boosts are applied, tailored to the combatant’s class.

Every command performed while Awakened consumes part of the Awakening Bar. Once it’s depleted — or if the combatant falls in battle — the state ends.

Wrap-Up

That covers the basics of the battle system in Guild Encounters! I hope this gives you a clearer idea of what to expect when taking on the many challenging encounters awaiting you when Guild Encounters launches on November 4th, 2025.

Until next time,

Gyudon, signing out.
