Dive Into the Depths in Grounded 2's "Into the Abyss" Update
Grounded 2's "Into the Abyss" update launches August 11, opening the pond and one of the biggest new areas in Brookhollow Park
Explore above and below the water's surface with new progression systems, discoveries, and challenges waiting in the depths
Traverse land and water with the new amphibious Toe-biter Buggy while facing familiar and new threats throughout the pond
The pond is finally opening.
On August 11, Grounded 2's next major content update, Into the Abyss, arrives and brings players into one of the biggest new areas added to Brookhollow Park so far.
For the first time, players will be able to explore both above and below the water's surface, uncovering new locations, new challenges, and new mysteries hidden beneath the pond.
The deeper you go, the more there is to discover.
Exploration plays a huge role in Into the Abyss. New diving suits help players stay underwater longer and reach deeper sections of the pond, opening up new paths and opportunities as they progress through the area. Into the Abyss is all about exploration. Players will journey through new areas like the Mountains, the Bayou, and the depths beneath the pond, each offering new discoveries and challenges along the way. New diving suits will help players stay underwater longer and reach deeper parts of the pond as they continue their adventure.
Of course, the water isn't empty.
Creatures like the koi fish and diving bell spider make their return, while new threats wait beneath the surface for players brave enough to dive in.
Whether you're exploring solo or with friends, the pond is designed to make every trip into the depths feel like a brand new adventure.
Getting around the new area also comes with a new companion. The Toe-biter joins Grounded 2 as a new amphibious Buggy capable of traveling across both land and water, helping players explore more of the pond and tackle encounters in new ways.
For the team, Into the Abyss has been an opportunity to build on what players loved about underwater exploration in the original Grounded while applying everything we've learned since then. Community feedback helped shape our approach, and we're excited for players to finally get their hands on it.
And while the pond is the star of this update, it's only one step in the journey. Brookhollow Park will continue to expand with new areas, creatures, systems, and surprises as development continues.
We can't wait to see what you find beneath the surface.
Grounded 2 is currently available in Game Preview for XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC, and ROG XBOX Ally handhelds, in Early Access on Steam, and you can play it on Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. Play it on both XBOX Series X|S and XBOX on PC at no additional cost with XBOX Play Anywhere. Coming to PlayStation 5 on August 11, 2026
