Grimslair changes
A new Grimslair hotfix is now available!
Today’s update focuses on improving stability and performance for Linux and Steam Deck players, along with fixing two frustrating gameplay issues reported by the community.
LINUX & STEAM DECK IMPROVEMENTS
Some Linux and Steam Deck players were becoming permanently stuck on the Loading Scene immediately after selecting a save profile.
On slower hardware, the loading system could reach its timeout before the large Gameplay scene finished activating. Several resource-intensive systems were also starting simultaneously while the scene was still being prepared.
This update includes the following improvements:
Fixed an issue that could leave Linux and Steam Deck players permanently stuck on the Loading Scene.
Added additional safeguards that allow the Gameplay scene to continue activating when loading takes longer than expected.
Improved Steam Deck detection so the device is less likely to be identified as a generic Linux computer.
Steam Deck now immediately starts at its native 1280 × 800 resolution.
Added a stability-focused 30 FPS Steam Deck graphics profile.
Delayed several resource-intensive battle systems until after the Gameplay scene has finished loading.
Removed an unnecessary Linux fog-rendering process.
Removed a lengthy particle pre-simulation that could stall the Chamber sequence on Linux.
Painting cameras are now disabled until they are actually needed.
Generic Linux computers now begin with a more compatible graphics baseline.
Corrected New Game loading routes so they always enter the proper Gameplay scene.
These Linux-specific safeguards do not alter the Windows or Mac graphics experience.
TEMPEST FORGE FIXES
Fixed an issue where the Tempest Forge could remain as an invisible object after being used.
Although the Forge visually disappeared, its invisible collision area could remain over the shop or Game Event that replaced it. This caused players to receive a message stating that the Tempest Forge had already been used when they were actually attempting to click the new card underneath it.
The following issues have been fixed:
The used Tempest Forge can no longer block the shop or Game Event behind it.
Replacement cards should now open with the first click.
The Forge immediately stops receiving player input after a card is successfully duplicated.
Invisible Forge objects are now completely removed after their visual transition.
Completing a card duplication now reliably removes and replaces the Forge.
Added a recovery safeguard if the Forge’s closing animation does not finish correctly.
Opening or leaving the Forge without completing a duplication will not consume it.
The Tempest Forge’s normal daily reset remains unchanged.
CARD UPGRADE SCREEN FIXES
Fixed an issue where the card upgrade screen could become permanently stuck after purchasing or receiving an upgrade.
In certain situations, the card was upgraded successfully, but the screen did not recognize that it was ready to close. This caused the Continue button to appear unresponsive while objects behind the upgrade screen remained clickable.
The following issues have been fixed:
The Continue button should now close the card upgrade screen properly on the first click.
Players can no longer accidentally click shops, events, cards, or HUD elements behind the upgrade screen.
Multiple card upgrades are now displayed in a queue instead of allowing their reward screens to overlap.
Improved upgrade-screen cleanup when loading existing save profiles.
Improved controller and Steam Deck navigation throughout the card upgrade interface.
The correct Continue button is now automatically selected when using a controller.
Upgrade screens from battles, perks, shops, and the Training Grounds now use the same reliable closing behavior.
Card levels, upgraded values, and progression are fully applied before the screen closes.
Thank you to everyone who continues to send detailed bug reports and screenshots. The reports involving the Tempest Forge and card upgrade screen made it possible to determine exactly what was happening.
Linux and Steam Deck players, please let me know if you encounter any additional loading or performance problems after this update. Improving the experience on those platforms will continue to be a major priority.
Cheers, Reapers!
