Gravity Cannon changes
I've brought big changes this week to the Gravity Cannon demo, and I'm excited to be sharing them with you all! Lots to talk about here.
First and foremost, the latest update includes a fix for some startup crashes that have been plaguing various hardware and driver configurations when running the game on Windows. I appreciate the patience while I've diagnosed and fixed the issue - it ended up being a relatively significant undertaking. The result is that I've migrated the game away from Vulkan and toward DirectX for Windows builds, and that should be a more stable experience moving forward.
Second, some new content! We now have match badges! Get yourself over to the stats screen as quickly as you can muster and fight for that MVP badge, or at the very least do your best to avoid the dreaded OOPS! badge...
Speaking of the stats screen: heatmaps have seen a small revamp as well. All heatmaps are now colored by team, meaning that you can better pinpoint team hot spots, discover your defensive weaknesses, more quickly determine exactly how your teammate managed to shoot their own base during that last match...
Plenty more has been added to the game on top of all of that, including:
Adding several bits of polish, various small animations
Adding new accessibility settings to disable flashes and to adjust the overall game engine speed
Fine tuning environment settings to slightly tone down certain glow effects
Adding a smoother, prettier transition into the intro sequence for the game
Fixing the clock in Hockey shifting off center when entering overtime
Fixing pixel bleed in certain animations on Windows
Preloading particle effects at startup to improve performance on Windows
Thanks, and happy cannoning!
