addedNew Cave Ruins ThemeDark, damp and mystic, these maps are a mixture of big open spaces and tight corners, riddled with ancient structures, traps, and dangerous cliffs. We are excited to add a 5th unique map type to the game, and we worked hard to make it cool and different!
changedBasic Power RebalancingAs you know we work hard to make Golfie the best game it can be, and we truly value all the great feedback the community has brought. One common point of feedback is that a basic putt is frustratingly weak. Or, quoting a reviewer, " Your unmodified swing lands with the impact of an angel hair spaghetti noodle launched by the force of a baby exhaling " . While we made it this way by design with the intention of making the deck building aspect of the game shine, we recognize that it doesn't sit right with many players, so we have increased the basic putting strength, which in turn also affects the overall power the ball is launched with with one or more Power Shot cards, and so on.
added2 for 1 Power Shot ConversionWe want the addition of new cards to the deck to be fun, but often you would find yourself missing basic cards like Power Shot if you're only drawing cool fancy cards, and that can sometimes be a point of frustration. We are happy to introduce a new basic ability where you can swap any 2 cards in hand for a Power Shot once per turn. You can find the button right above the End Turn button!
addedNew Challenge EncountersThese are the levels marked by a glitchy question mark, adding an additional challenge (and reward!) to the level. We are happy to introduce two more to the pool:

New Cave Ruins Theme

Dark, damp and mystic, these maps are a mixture of big open spaces and tight corners, riddled with ancient structures, traps, and dangerous cliffs. We are excited to add a 5th unique map type to the game, and we worked hard to make it cool and different!

Basic Power Rebalancing

As you know we work hard to make Golfie the best game it can be, and we truly value all the great feedback the community has brought. One common point of feedback is that a basic putt is frustratingly weak. Or, quoting a reviewer,"Your unmodified swing lands with the impact of an angel hair spaghetti noodle launched by the force of a baby exhaling". While we made it this way by design with the intention of making the deck building aspect of the game shine, we recognize that it doesn't sit right with many players, so we have increased the basic putting strength, which in turn also affects the overall power the ball is launched with with one or more Power Shot cards, and so on.

2 for 1 Power Shot Conversion

We want the addition of new cards to the deck to be fun, but often you would find yourself missing basic cards like Power Shot if you're only drawing cool fancy cards, and that can sometimes be a point of frustration. We are happy to introduce a new basic ability where you can swap any 2 cards in hand for a Power Shot once per turn. You can find the button right above the End Turn button!

3 New Cards

Here's some more cards to discover on your runs:

  • Gravity Repeater - Activate (hold) to increase the effect of gravity on the ball

  • Quicksave - Activate to save the balls current position, then activate again to restore it

  • Ramp - Place a ramp

New Challenge Encounters

These are the levels marked by a glitchy question mark, adding an additional challenge (and reward!) to the level. We are happy to introduce two more to the pool:

  • Clumsy - Every third card played is instead discarded

  • Confused - All card costs are randomized

First Checkpoint Reset on the House

Going for galaxy brain shots is in the DNA of Golfie, but sometimes the risk is simply too big if you end up in a bad spot and have to spend several shots getting back on track. There was always the ability to reset the ball to the last checkpoint, but it is pricey at -1 energy. Now, however, the first checkpoint reset each level is free, while subsequent resets still cost 1 energy!

Camera Improvements, UI Rework, and more...

Many have voiced their frustration over the camera in tight quarters (often Dungeon levels), and we have finally found a way to improve the experience a bit, by increasing the FOV when trying to zoom out through walls, giving a wider view!

We've overhauled all the UI in the game, while also reconsidering the user experience and common interactions. I think you'll find that it looks much nicer and more coherent now! We have also added a "Difficulty Heads Up" popup that tries to communicate the challenging nature of the game to new players, making sure to mention the many ways to customize the game for a more casual experience if that is desired.

The ball also stops a bit faster now so you might find that you're lucky landing right on the edge instead of rolling all the way down now. There's also a bunch of bug fixes and other minor changes.

As always, we are very excited to hear your feedback, so don't hold back and voice your thoughts on the discord server or in the Steam forums!

Much love from us at Triheart Studio, and as always thanks for being here <3
