Gold Mining Simulator 2 changes
First of all, we want to say a huge thank you for the incredible feedback we've been receiving since the launch of the GMS2 Demo. We are reading all your reviews, comments, and bug reports, and getting straight to work.
We have just released a quick update that addresses several key issues, introduces highly requested control settings, and smooths out the tutorial progression reported by the community.
🛠️ What’s new in this update:
- Proper Joystick & Controller DetectionFixed an issue where the game struggled to recognize certain input devices or dual joysticks.
- Minimum Requirements CheckAdded a new screen on startup to help players verify if their hardware meets the baseline needs for our new engine.
Smarter Tutorial Progression (Autocomplete): The tutorial will now automatically complete and skip tasks (like connecting the generator, connecting the water pump, or placing sluicebox mats) if you have already done them ahead of time. No more getting stuck!
- Excavator Control ImprovementsAdded sensitivity settings for the excavator arm movement (set to 90% by default). Additionally, controller input for the arm is now set to axis (0-1 range) by default for much smoother, more precise operation.
- Gold Panning SensitivityAdded the missing sensitivity setting for the Gold Pan when you are in nugget collection mode.
- Increased Tailings VolumeSlightly increased the tailings volume to ensure the tutorial triggers and displays correctly during the demo.
- Default Language FixFixed an issue where the game would accidentally default to Polish if your native language wasn't supported. It will now correctly default to English.
- Jed Footstep SoundsAdded footstep sounds for Jed! Players were getting genuine jumpscares when he quietly snuck up behind them on the claim.
UI Fix: The V-Sync option now correctly shows "(V-Sync)" in the menu and is properly named across languages.
Initial Stability Tweaks: Implemented fast minor code optimizations in-game.
⚠️ Known Issues We Are Actively Working On
While we are moving fast with hotfixes, there are a few larger known technical issues that our team is currently investigating:
Intel 13th/14th Gen CPUs & Radeon 6000/7000 GPUs: Some players using 13th or 14th generation Intel processors or Radeon 6000/7000 series graphics cards are experiencing very low FPS or complete crashes. This is a known engine-level conflict within Unreal Engine, and we are already working on a dedicated solution to fix it.
- Joystick Key BindingWhile device detection has been improved, some specific joystick models may still require you to manually bind all the keys in the settings menu before they will function properly.
Please remember that this demo is just a small, locked introductory slice created to test the baseline core mechanics and our new dirt physics across thousands of different hardware configurations. Your support at this stage is absolutely crucial for us to make sure the full game featuring:
👥 Full Co-op Multiplayer
🏜️ Sandbox Mode (skip the tutorial completely!)
🚛 Heavy equipment trailer transport
🛠️ Advanced mechanic repairs & gold melting
🧹 Claim cleaning & waste management
🚜 Plenty of machines and washplants to choose from, and much, much more!
If you appreciate our quick response to bugs and the direction we're taking, please consider leaving a review or updating your current one to share your thoughts. Every single bit of feedback means the world to our team right now! ❤️
Thanks for being with us, and see you on the claim!
