Goat's Odyssey changes
Steam Next Fest has officially come to an end, and we want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who played the Goat's Odyssey demo, shared their feedback, and supported our small indie team! β¨
Before the festival, we spent all our time fixing bugs, so the audio had to take a back seat. But today, we are thrilled to release a Major Audio Update! Since our game relies 100% on visual storytelling with absolutely no text, we wanted to make sure the world feels as alive and interactive as possible.
We actually ended up recording almost all the Foley and sound effects ourselves manually at home.
Here is a little behind-the-scenes look at how we made some of the sounds:
Grass footsteps: Walking with our fingers in a jar of cereal π₯£
Wood hits: A simple kitchen cutting board πͺ΅
Metal hits: Slamming a coffee maker lid β
Flapping wings: Waving a hand fan πͺ
Jaw clicking: A hair claw clip π¦
We even had to eat a salad directly into the microphone for one specific sound! π₯
The Goat: I actually recorded all the goat's vocalizations and angry noises myself! ππ
The demo is staying live for a little longer, so if you haven't finished it yet, or want to experience the puzzle in its full audio glory, jump right in. See if you can recognize the coffee maker or the cereal jar while playing!
