Hi everyone!
First of all, a huge thank you to everyone who has jumped into the Genetica demo over the last 48 hours. I’ve already gathered a massive amount of simulation data that is helping me refine the core engine.
What’s new in today's patch:
- Linux Support is LiveThe Genetica demo is now available for Linux systems. If you encounter any OS-specific issues, please report them—I’m aiming for the fastest fixes possible!
Steam Deck Status: While Linux support is now live, I’ve noticed some issues specific to Steam Deck hardware during my latest tests. I’m already investigating the root cause, but please be aware it’s currently in an "experimental" state. A fix is coming as soon as I can squash that bug!
- Zero-Desync SimulationI’ve fixed the bug that caused discrepancies between the server-side simulation and the local player view. Your genetic experiments are now 100% "what you see is what you get."
The Battle for the Top: Our leaderboard is heating up! Huge shoutout to all participants, and especially to SrWyro for holding the #1 spot with a staggering 49,170 shards. I’m currently sitting at #2, but I can see some of you (looking at you, Qalibrate and Cyadic) catching up fast.
A few fun stats from the simulation server:
More than 150 matches have been played, with more than 70,000 experience points and 1,000,000 shards earned!
The Slow Metabolism, Hunger Resistance, and Fat Reserve are the top 3 most used genes so far—and not gonna lie, they are quite effective. The least used gene is Pheromones; I guess we’re not interested in pacifying those pesky buffaloes just yet.
The simulation continues. Good luck out-evolving the competition!
