Gangs of Rikton changes
Hi there !
It's been a long time since I communicated on the game. Between the presentation of the demo and the month of April, the gameplay of the game has been completely redesigned and redone. It is now more coherent and richer, at the expense of secondary elements that have been removed.
The graphics have received a major update. The map has also been completely redone with new, much prettier assets. However it is not finished yet.
But since May, development has slowed considerably. For those who don't know, I'm the only one doing the game, and I had been able to work on it full-time since September 2020 thanks to my savings. But since May, I can no longer. So I took a job to replenish my coffers. I'm on vacation this month and I fully intend to finish what remains to be done to release the game in early access.
Early Access Content
I want to reassure you, 95% of the gameplay will be present. There will surely be some bugs but the game is already well debugged, especially thanks to my few loyal testers. There will surely be a need to balance two or three things here and there.
This is the city that will not be finished. In fact there is only 50% of it. Of the six districts, only three are done (and still not completely at this time).
So I'm planning the first three districts and all the gameplay for early access. This will represent ten hours of play.
Early access and roadmap
The game will be released in August. I can't say exactly when yet but probably towards the end of the month. In addition to small updates to debug and balance the game, it will receive four or five big updates. The first three will each add a district and unlock new business opportunities and upgrades for the player. The fourth update will add a villa and a final challenge to the game, which will put your gang leader skills to the test to finish the game.
The fifth update remains secret for now. I'll see if it's needed or not when the first four updates are released, and I'll tell you about it then (or sooner if I notice its need first).
Communication, demo and devblogs
As you may have noticed, communication is not my forte. Between now and the game's release, I plan to do three or four dev blogs so you know what to expect. I also know as a gamer that there is nothing better than trying out a game to find out if it is worth buying or not. This is why a demo with two hours of gameplay will be available at the same time as the game in order to give you an opinion ;)
