As a fresh-faced artist born after 2005 who’s still new to the industry but fiercely passionate about games, facing the camera for the first time brought unprecedented pressure (he claims he’s never felt this much pressure before). He shared the character model creation process in games and his insights~
✧ Deeply “interpret” concept art to grasp design intent, not just replicate appearances.
✧ During modeling, pay special attention to the structural relationships and proportional harmony of each part, ensuring compatibility with existing character proportions in the game.
✧ Core processes for creating high-poly/low-poly models, UV unwrapping, and texture painting—using color schemes and texture expression to give characters personality.
✧ Import the final model into the engine and bring the character to life in the game world through rigging.
